We don't have any cicadas either. I remember last time this was supposed to happen they talked it up HUGE and there was nothing. I kept thinking "what was the big deal?"

I was thinking it would probably be the same thing and so far it is much to my DS-10's dismay. He is so pumped up to see cicadas, etc... but we have nothing.

Maybe Saturday at the nature party there will be some since it in a wooden location. I think our location has just been too much growth/disturbed the ground within the last 17 years.

Tonight is DD's concert and I hope she feels better. I had to take her into school early due to her forgetting something here yesterday so now had to go in early & at lunch to do the project. Nice of her to tell me at 9 pm that she had to be at school at 8!!! THAT was a trick as my DS-10 has to be at his school by 7:50!!! Hmmm....so I took her there about 7:30ish and as we were driving she started doing her headache routine (she gets headaches a lot but so did I when I was her age so it doesn't worry me too much). I wished she would have TOLD me before we headed out the door. She could have at least taken some Tylenol then, now she gets to suffer through the day. She told me she didn't have one before we walked out the door. Maybe it will go away after she gets going at school, etc... I know mine sometimes would do that after I got up and going. Then last night she started up with her deep cough -- *just* what she needs before a choir concert where she will be attempting to sing. You don't need to have a coughing fit. I had already planned on giving her cough medicine before we go as a precaution but now will have to see if she still has the headache since I can't combine medicines. Always something. I think she's caught her little brother's cold (yes, I know it's May and an odd time to have a cold but my 7 year old has had one recently) and her colds *always* end up with a cough that we basically just have to wait out until it clears up which take forever. Why of all days does this have to happen, couldn't it wait until tomorrow? Or better yet, next Wednesday. They have a performance on Tuesday too. I'm so looking forward to this concert so she had best fake her way through it. ;) :goodvibes

I'm up waaaay too late and have to get up waaaaay too early, but I just wanted to say Bye!!! :wave2: I'm up so late because of Idol and Lost, and packing. Too much in one night! But I think I'm about ready for bed.

Since Idol's over I think I'll be back here more when I get home. I do miss you guys! :goodvibes

Thanks Rose, for the PM. :goodvibes
You're welcome :)

Have a great trip :cool1:

Yeah!!!! They just called to confirm numbers for the birthday party! That means they *DO* have my paperwork. :lmao: I always get so paranoid about that when I book really early (even though they always put a "dates fill up fast so book early" notice on things). I even have the time correct for the party! I'm always so paranoid I'm going to send out the invites with the wrong time or something especially with a long gap between booking & actually having to send the invites out. Plus, I didn't get a copy of the contract so didn't have the information here (I know I should have but didn't think to ask for a copy. I just filled out the form & handed it back in to the park district!) Hmm...I guess I'm just a paranoid person in general. :lmao: It only stems from hearing stories of things that go wrong with having parties at outside venues (not having you on the books, having it for the wrong day, etc...). I've never actually encountered a problem but there's always a first time. :rotfl:

I let them know our definite 13 but "2" I couldn't get in contact with. It's actually 4 but I figured the 2 I called and left messages that said if I don't hear from you I assume you aren't coming. So, that's what I'm doing. Luckily, they said if the other 2 do show up, they can arrange for it and will just add the place settings. YEAH! So, we are covered either way.

I did go ahead and order a 3rd pizza. We probably don't need it (so will be eating left-overs for a while! :lmao: ) but it's the paranoid person in me that would rather have too *much* food than not enough especially if the 2 mystery people show up. If they show up, then I would be at the 15 when they would want us to order another pizza. That's the tricky part you never know how it's going to go. Even here at home, Kyle can eat several pieces OR he can eat one piece and be done. I figure they are hiking for an hour, they might be hungry but they are only 1st graders so ????

I'm sure the parents will be so thrilled with me though as I ordered Coke for it instead of having juice. :lmao: I know I *could* have ordered juice but it stems from my growing up years -- if you are having pizza you can have pop! We *always* had milk to drink for dinner but if we got pizza we were allowed to have pop. Same thing for my kids, they mostly get milk unless it's a special treat OR it's pizza! If it's pizza that means you are allowed to have pop, so it's a big deal. It's for Kyle's birthday, he always chooses Coke, so that's what I got. Actually, I probably should have ordered Pepsi for ME! Kyle has gone to the dark side though. It's a running joke in our house because DH prefers Coke, I prefer Pepsi and so we always try to get the kids to pick *our* preference. Unfortunately, I know Kyle usually picks Coke even when Pepsi is available. :sad1:

Good morning!

slo Good places to look for kid couches that are fairly cheap is Walmart and Target. Both show items on their web sites too.
Hope your store sign turned out really nice!!! :)

Kim That's nice that Matt will get to see the movie early!!!
Hope tonight isn't too crazy for him at the theatre!!

paintnolish Have fun at the movie's with your DS!!! :)
We are going on Saturday morning to see it!!! Can't wait!!1

Tiggerrn & Becky Happy birthday to both Kyle's!!!
happybdaycard.gif

Hersey No buggies here either!!! They all probably got dug up when the subdivision was being built. They hauled out a ton of dirt...so they probably ended up somewhere else!!!

chrismiss Sending cool thoughts your way too!!! I have think I have perimenopause, because lately I forget everything.... No concentration!!
Go cool off!! ;)

Leigh Have a great time on your trip!!!! Don't be such a stranger when you get back!!! :rotfl:

Yep, that's the first sign! Believe me!! I know!! I have CRS syndrome! "Can't Remember Spit".

It's truly unsettling sometimes! :upsidedow:

Maybe some of you have seen these before. 30 second bunny parodies. I know Jedi has posted some in the past.

So in tribute to the new POTC 3 movie coming out, here is a parody of POTC 1 & 2!!!

ENJOY!!!!!

:rotfl:

Where is everyone tonight?
I finally got my house cleaned. First time my floors had more than a wet paper towel washing in ages.:rotfl: We won our softball game tonight 16-0. I felt sorry for the other team. We have been there before. It is so not fun!!
Working tomorrow. I hope we get some rain. Very dry here. No cicadas either. Kids keep running out checking the trees every day. NOTHING!!
Well, better run. Lunches to make for the moring and have to get the backpacks together. Have a great day tomorrow everyone.

Hi everyone!!

I haven't been on this thread in ages...I fell off the Dis wagon for a while :) Now that I have some trips planned...I better get my act together!!

No Cicadas here either. DH has been obsessing about it. Apparently when he was 10 he had a bad experience....one would think that after 40 years he would be over it!! :rotfl:

who are the nurses on this thread and who lives in schaumberg?

i have a question for those that are.

Went to our last choir concert of the year!

They did a great job. At least I think so. :yay:

I videotaped DD's parts but I *really* need a new video camera. The one I have is over 15 years old VHS-C which I know if I wait a few more years or so, they will be obsolete! The quality of my taping job is ummm...less than stellar. ;) I also video recorded on my digital camera. We will have to see how that turned out later. No zoom on that, it's not really made to take tons of video though. It's basically a digital camera that just has the video feature thrown on there.

It was interesting taping with 2 cameras but man...my arm was *so* tired from the old camcorder -- I enjoyed it but kept thinking "are they done yet?" Plus I had to keep checking that I wasn't videotaping the floor or something as my arm kept slowly moving down. :lmao:

I loved that they put next year's concert dates on tonight's program!!! That means I can already pencil them in which with the way my schedule gets, the sooner I know stuff the better!

Had to run to the store afterward and it started raining on us. That's OK, I would rather it rain tonight than Saturday -- no rain until after the party or at least after the nature hike part of the party.

kim raye..and sk8Leigh.......are you here for the card game.........

Kim Leigh Mac  you guys were on awfully late.

Kim that is awfully mean of your son's boss, Making him watch POTC meanest taken to a new level pirate:
Yes, it was late but I had to catch up!

DS didn't go this morning for the manager's review. :sad2: He chose to just work the movie tonight. He says he only saw about 2 minutes so far so, he's withholding an opinion. pirate: I'm waiting to hear how BUSY they were tho. :confused3 - UPDATE - 8:00 show sold out! 8:30 didn't tho. Mind you, this is being shown on 2 screens.

so that makes me happy!!! :)

I can hardly wait to see - I"m so excited!!!! :yay:
Soo happy you're happy and excited, Sandy!! Best of Luck!! :thumbsup2 :woohoo: :cool1: :goodvibes  :cheer2:

We don't have any cicadas either. ... we have nothing.

Maybe Saturday at the nature party there will be some since it in a wooden location. I think our location has just been too much growth/disturbed the ground within the last 17 years.
Nothing here either, thankfully. I would think a wooded Nature center might give you more 'action' tho. ;)

We won our softball game tonight 16-0. I felt sorry for the other team. We have been there before. It is so not fun!
Same here, BOTH sides as well! ;) Congrats tho! There comes a time when practice pays off! :thumbsup2

Hi everyone!!
 WELCOME!!! Glad you found us!!! :goodvibes

I HAVE to go - even early for me tonight :rolleyes1 , but Kelly has a field trip tomorrow to Graue Mill(?). DH & I are both going. I have to actually WAKE UP before 7 AM! :lmao: Wish me luck!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl:

:grouphug: All!

Good morning. Ok I know I'm strange but where did the storms go. I thought with how strong the winds were it was going to be a doozy but nada, just a little rain. My grass needs more and I cheap, I don't water the grass unless I really have to.

KristineN If your DH wants to trade cicada stories I have one. When living alone I had one stuck in between the storm window and the window it's self. It was banging so hard against the window I thought someone was breaking in so I called the police. They couldn't find anyone but the did hear the racket when they came in my apartment they had guns drawn and then they found out it was one of those ugly bugs.:scared1:
:welcome: by the way

Hi to everyone else Hope we get some more rain but not tomorrow. I know to many people having outside things planned.

:cheer2: :cheer2: IT'S FRIDAY!!!!!!:cheer2: :cheer2:

Well, my sign didn't get put up yesterday due to issues with the town. I'm really hoping it gets put up today - it sounds like all the issues have been rectified - plus, I'm dying to see it!!! :)

paint - have fun seeing pirates today pirate: I can hardly wait to hear what you thought of it.

Becky - I"m glad DD's concert went well :goodvibes

Rose - :wave2:

Bunchkin - thanks for the info!! I will check it out today!! :thumbsup2

Sam - :wave2:

Tiggerrnnnnnn - congrats on the huge win!!! :cheer2: That's awesome!!!

Kristine - Good to see you!!!! :wave2: Congrats on all the tickers - looks like you are going to have some fun trips!!! :cool1:

mac - :wave2:

Kim - Thanks!!! :goodvibes
**I hope you have fun on Kelly's field trip today!!!!

HERSEY - I was hoping for more rain too :umbrella: It looks like it's going to rain tomorrow, which figures, because that's the day I wanted to plant my flowers :flower:

Well, I gotta run and get ready to go to work
Have a good day today everyone!!!

Hersey- Eww on the cicado story! We were at a friends last weekend and a bug was banging around by the window. I could see how you could think someone was breaking in. It was so loud. I said- Are you sure it's a bug? I am thinking it could be a pterodactyl (sp?)!
Slo- Sounds like your store is coming along! Hope the sign is up today!
Tiggerrn2- I am tired of the backpack checking and lunch making. Thank goodness it is almost over for the year!

Well, we saw POTC last night. I ahve to say, while it was good (how can you go wrong with Bloom and Depp?), it was not my fave out of the 3. Still lots of fun. DS was getting really antsy and I kept asking if he had to go to the bathroom. He was just getting so into the movie that he was literally "on the edge of his seat!" Oh, and as you might have read elsewhere on the cb- stay past the credits. We didn't and missed a good scene! I look forward to seeing what everyone else thought!
Okay, gotta get dd bfast. She loves the POTC cereal- choc cannonballs and marshmallows. Gee, thanks, Grandma. The start of a nutritious bfast!

This is cool!!

I just was reading the Republican and there is this profile that the child on the Pirates toy boxes is a local little boy!

It's kind of funny because apparently they didn't realize he would be on the boxes as the article says his mom "screamed with excitement" when she saw him on it at the store. :rotfl2:

He's a 3rd grader at one of our elementary schools. I don't know him as it's not at the one my kids go to but thought it was pretty cool.

He took a 16-week course from the Barbizon School of Modeling in Schaumburg. It's kind of nice to know if your kids are interested in modeling that this particular school really does get the kids jobs/prepared for jobs. I'm not interested but I've gotten several of their postcards and it always makes you wonder just how legit these places are.

Good Morning people!! Thank the Lord it's Friday!!!

Which means we get to see POTC3 tomorrow!!!
Pirate07bounce.gif

It rained here again a little while ago and looks as if it will again.

slo I hope your sign gets set up today!! Where is it being put up? Is it a sign for in front of the building off of the street? Or for the actual building itself?
Good luck finding a chair/sofa for Katie!!! Let me know if you can't find something and I'll keep and eye out for one. ;)

Paintnolish Sorry you missed the extra tidbit at the end of the movie. But thanks for mentioning it!!! ::yes:: I'll have to remember to stay put in my seat!!!
My kids HATE chocolate cereals!!!

Kim Have fun at Kelly's field trip.

hersey Your cicada story...... :teeth: gave me a good laugh!!!!
In fact while I was laughing, Tony called and he wanted to know if the cops shot your window out!!! :rotfl:

I've got a friend of mine in London, England, and his son goes to a special school there that specializes in acting. From what I gather, it's his regular school (normal subjects) plus the acting all rolled into one. They find him jobs all the time. The arrangement they have is that any money he earns, the school applies directly to the tuition. He's been on TV several times in Soap Operas and commercials and he's worked for Disney a few times also. Pretty cool!! I told him when his kid grows up to be a famous actor, I'm going to expect an autograph!! ;)
