Stephanie and I had SO MUCH FUN yesterday!!!!
12.gif

I am so grateful to The DIS for bringing us all together :goodvibes
If it weren't for that - I would never have met any of you

Thanks Nicole for setting the Meet up
It was so nice to see everyone again, and I'm so glad that John CarolAnn, and their DD (who is also a DISer, and I invited to come join us here, she's so so nice) came so I could meet them.
Now I have to talk about the kids - what a great group of kids we all have. They were so well behaved, they had so much fun, and they all enjoy each other's company :goodvibes

The drive for us was long (our commute time was about an hour and 20 minutes each way), but that's okay, it was an adventure!! Stephanie and I stopped at the Hinsdale Oasis on the way there to go to the bathroom, and I couldn't believe how nice it was in there. The bathrooms were so clean, and they had a lot of great food choices. So we grabbed some Aunt Aunnie's pretzels, and continued on :teeth: Then on the way home we grabbed some McDonalds (Steph said she was hungry) so she ate a Happy Meal in the car, and I ordered a large fry to much on - I love McD's fries!!!

On the topic of Pirates being the next DIS Meetpirate: I won't be able to go to that, because Kevin and I are planning on making that a date night for us. I just wanted to let you all know that I will be absent :)

This morning I am going to a baby shower.:)
This is a baby shower that is very exciting to go to, because this new baby was very difficult for the parents to become pregnant with. They wanted a baby so bad, and they tried so many options to become pregnant. Then when they were about ready to give up, the mom became pregnant:goodvibes When I heard this, I was so excited for them!!! Now it's getting close to the baby being born - I can hardly wait to meet the new bundle of joy.

HERSEY - It was so nice to see you yesterday. I always enjoy visiting with you!! I couldn't believe how much Alex has grown - he's such a nice young man :)

Bunchkin - Thanks again for setting up The Meet, it was a great choice on where to go :thumbsup2 How did Tony feel after working? Hopefully he can relax a little today.

Donna - I hope you had a nice day in the city yesterday. Where you able to go to Navy Pier? We really like it there, and we try to go a couple times a year:)

Rose - Just out of curiousity, why can't you set up a Meet if you want it by your house? I have to be honest, when I set up a Meet (which I'm going to do eventally) it's going to be a pizza place that's around here (because I know they have a great room for us to be alone in). I'm not flaming you, I'm just curious on why you can't. Just as a side note, all DIS Meets that I've gone to, except the small one recently to see Meet the Robinsons, I've had to drive 45 minutes or more. We make the drive an adventure, and have good fun with it. Like I said, this is not a flame, just a question :)

Tiggeerrrnn - It was such a pleasant surprise to see you and Kellie yesterday:) I'm so glad you were able to make it!!!

CarolAnn - It was so nice to meet you and your family yesterday. It was great visiting with you all:goodvibes

Mac - Happy Anniversary a day late to you and DH. How is your DH feeling today?
I hope he is feeling better :wizard:

Sam - It was great doing the Cha-Cha Slide with you and the kids yesterday:) The kids seemed like they liked us doing it with them too:goodvibes
**Ratalouille (sp?) sounds great :thumbsup2

John - Great pictures!!!! :goodvibes Thanks for taking them!!
Also thanks for coming yesterday - it was so great to meet you, and your family. I look forward to seeing you all again soon!!

Kim - I don't blame you for not wanting to drive far at night:sad2: . The last several Meets have been pretty early - I was home by 3:30 yesterday:) Which was good so we could go to church at 4:30, and that way Stephanie could sleep in this morning.
**That Gino's by you was a great place for a DIS Meet, maybe we could do something there again. I really thought that little room for the kids was awesome!!!!:thumbsup2

Well, that's about it from me today, I have to go get ready for my 10:30am baby shower
Have a good day today everyone!!

Good morning everyone! Yesterday was fun, always nice to see old friends and meet new ones.

Good morning!!! :wave2:
We posted at the same time :teeth:

Yesterday really was fun!!!!
Tell Alex that I said good-luck with the rest of his castle project:wizard:
I meant to tell him that before we left, and then I forgot:rolleyes:

These "kid" projects are going to be the death of his father and I!:rotfl: I don't understand the relevance. How much call is it in today's time is it to beeing able to build a castle. I went into a local hobby shop the other day for ideas and materials, they have never heard of it.

Becky- hope you and your family are doing well- haven't seen you here in a few days. Miss you here.

Jedi- miss you too. hope you are doing well.

Have a good day everyone!
Enjoy the nice weather today! :cool1:

Happy Sunday.

Just wanted to stop by quick. Pics look great from the meet yesterday. We really love bowling and were sad we had to miss it. Hopefully we can make it next time.

For all you Pirate/croc lovers crocs are coming out with Disney Pirate Crocs.
http://shop.crocs.com/pc-336-4-disn...=41p&subsectionname=footwear&section=products
It doesn't give a date they will be out but I will be keeping a eye out and buying a pair as soon as they are.

Think I am going to head up to Woodfield today for lunch at the Rainforest Cafe. Since I got the Safari Membership we go much more often.

Have a great day everyone .

Okay, I didn't get into the bathroom yet, because I decided to eat some breakfast first. I do have to get going though, because I move slow in the morning:)

HERSEY - I agree with you about the project. Are these castles going to be displayed at school? :teacher:

Rose - :wave2:

Disneynut - Enjoy Rainforest Cafe today :goodvibes

Okay.....I'm definitly going now

Hey Disneynut, you will be in my area :thumbsup2
Wish I can meet up with you last minute, but too much going on here today at home and have to run errands today. Chrissy is VERY afraid of those animals- the parrots up front of the restaurant and the pretend ones that come out and make noise.
Giving you a big wave :wave2:

I am up that way about once a month. We should meet up sometime.:)

I applied for the doorway to dreams guide. So maybe up much more.

good morning chicagoland homies.

i think today the sun will be out and everyone will be smiling...:)

since the tollway and also 94 is having construction, it would take me 2 hours to get to a meet south of the city. when i took son back to the train station last time, (a 31 mile drive which takes me 45 minutes w/ no traffic) took me one hour and 50 minutes just to go downtown to the jackson exit. that was on a sunday which usually isn't a bad day on the roads to the city.

it took me 2 hours to get to woodfield mall on the meet i did last summer.
mainly because it was on a saturday and the roads are always busy on saturdays.

i like the suggestions that was made of watching the day/time meets are scheduled. maybe if a saturday is the day that is best for all, could we do a meet and start with breakfast so the ones that travel the furthest could miss a lot of that traffic tie ups? just a thought.

if anyone is interested in doing a six flags meet, let me know.
i will set it up.
to save money, we could all make it a potluck and divide up who brings what. we could tailgate lunch all together. for the next meal of the day if we go into the evening, we could do counter service/snacks at the park or divide up what food is left and let those people enjoy leftovers for dinner time to save money.

if there is no interest in bringing food for one meal to potluck, we could have a couple with vans leave the park for mcdonalds or burger king for lunchtime. just a thought.

park food gets expensive for a family, just thinking of ways to cut costs so more can join in.

i have the parking pass and a van. if a family does not want to pay for parking, we could meet at the mall and you park your car and all go in mine to save you that $ fee.

look at your schedules and see what month and day of the week would be best for you. if there are 2 different groups on 2 different days, we plan 2 meets. i only live 10 miles from the park, i can do both meets. i also have the season pass.

i suggest it be on a weekday in the summer as weekends are packed once it is mid summer time. But, as i said, we can do more than one meet if a group can only go on a weekend.

i think parking is about $15 at the park. for those that do not want to pay it, i can try to coordinate us parking at the mall and sharing the ride and cost for parking. i go alone, i have a 7 seat van. whoever rides with me is free as i have the pass.

don't know if i can make it to church. Mr Mac felt better yesterday afternoon and then last night he got very ill again. he lost 6 pounds since yesterday. very dehydrated. i went to walgreens at 7 this morning and got kaepetke, pedilyte for him. he has now stopped the hyperventilating but i need to stay home to watch him. he finally fell asleep since he has been up since 3:30 this morning. if he gets worse, think it will be er time then.

the pics were so nice john. but........i don't know who is who.
i haven't met many in person. only been to 2 meets.

If anyone is wanting or needing a race car bed frame for boys, twin size, let me know-give me a PM. Would like to give it away to someone. Matthew used it for 5 yrs. It is still in pretty good condition. Tho there are alot of wood frame and vinyl pieces to put together and the brackets to power screw in. I didn't take a picture of it unfortuantely, but it is pretty good condition. For boys ages 3 to 10 or 11yrs old. :car:
If anyone here is interested in the bedframe or know someone that could use it, just PM me and we can make arrangements the next few weeks.

Disneynut- yes, we should meet up sometime at Woodfield- whenever I have a free weekend. I don't know what Doorway to Dreams guide is?

Mac- sorry Mr. Mac isn't doing too good. Hopefully he can get hydrated with what you bought him to drink. Prayers and PD to Mr. Mac :wizard: :wizard:
Thanks for letting us know I 94 is having construction, as we are driving I 94 next Sat. to Racine, WI. Guess need to give myself more time on hte highway next Sat.

Ok, gotta run.

roseprincess, i use the phone number for help when there is construction or traffic. it is a live line that can guide you.

do you want the number?

it is the radio station in chgo that has it. you tell them where you are and they will give you info on traffic situation and alternative routes to use.

it is up to date at all times.

be sure to wave when you go past the exits for my area.
i'll be waving back......:thumbsup2

Good morning!!

The kids and I had a great time yesterday!!
I'm so glad that it turned out to be such a great bowling alley!!

Thanks for sharing the the pics from the meet John!! It was nice meeting you and the family! :)
And it was great seeing everyone else too!! ;)

Here's my 2 cents on meets:

I can recall several meets that were either at Woodfield mall or Gino's that we traveled to. The ride for us to those places is over an hour. And we gladly made the trip to be with friends. And I wouldn't consider those meets centrally located to the masses.
I think it's the prerogative of the person planning the meet where to organize it.
I organized the Cars meet at Yorktown and the meet at Woodfield last year.
Both places a drive for us.
In my opinion it's only logical to make meets in varying places, and not go to the same places every time.

Yesterday's meet was planned in the morning. Which would have given anyone who was interested in going plenty of time for travel, especially since it was over by 2pm.

Rosemarie I don't see why you can't plan a meet in your area. :confused3 Many have in the past. And there's really not much work involved! My suggestion to you would be that if you don't like the locations...plan a meet! ;)

We wouldn't consider going to a Six Flags meet. Not because of the distance but because we have no interest going there. That's just us. :) And we'd wish everyone else lots of fun! ;)

I took the kids to see Pirates 2 and it was fine for both of them. So we would bring ours to see Pirates 3.

mac I'm sorry you live so far out compared to all of us here. If travel is hard on anyone it's you. If you said Bass Pro Shop at Gurnee as the meet place we'd be there in a heart beat!!

Not everyone can go to all meets for one reason or another. But everyone does have the opportunity to plan one at their choice location and function.
There are no rules to this. :)

bass pro shop it is then bunchkin!!

who is interested in the gurnee mall meet?
we can set it up for maybe 10 am.

we can highlight certain stores to go to, eat at one of the places outside the mall, many around.

and maybe hit a kewl movie for 1ish at the mall......

the mall is not as crowded on a sunday.
saturday it is packed.

disney outlet store, kids clothing store, jcpenny outlet store/great deals, bass pro shop, speciality stores, the theater.....

and we can still do a six flags meet at another time.
something for everyone!

bunchkin, i don't mind driving so far to meet up with others sometimes but last year at woodfield mall, if i could have left at 9 in the morining it would have helped me with traffic. the meet was for 3 in the afternoon and i don't know the mall at all. couldn't think of what to do by myself for 6 hours.
couldn't do bowling meet yesterday as it was the anniversay which really ended up going south with mr mac being sick.

i just like to do meets.
i know i can't hit them all, maybe this summer we can have some.
it is easier for me to drive in warm weather than bad weather time.

bunchkin, jon bon jovi will be on a tv program one day soon for american idol.

he is big into the habitat for others and will be on tour in june.
think it is the second to last AI that he will be the music guide for the contestants.

and then he will do a link for his cause of helping others and perform live on AI.

pencil him in on your calendar

Hey all.
Beautiful day!! Wish I hadn't had to spend half of it running the Peter Pan ballet group to IN today. Heading out to the park shortly and then off to the IceCream shop!!!
Mac, I will definately be heading to GA this summer. Our church youth group will be there the 2nd week of June and we all go our seperate ways once we arrive. I would love to meet you. Maybe you could meet up for lunch or something? We will either be there the Tues or Wed. of that week. They haven't made the day choice yet. And the kids both got free passes for reading, so we will be going again, if the dates for the youth group won't let us use the free pass yet. I know those are for use between certain dates.
Would also enjoy a Gurnee Mills meet some Sunday if it happens to fall on my weekend off.
OK kids are growing restless. Better run off to the park. Later!!
You can't tell which is me in John's pix. Last picture in the black/white striped shirt. I'm talking with Bunchkin.

Hi all.

I'm still around, mostly just reading.

Glad the meet went well.

I'm too scared to plan a meet (bad experience in the past with scheduling something with people from another board I'm on (not Disney) -- a flame war ensued before the meet with lots of people storming off the board. I'm just bad luck like that. :rotfl2: ).

One of these days it will work to go to a meet for me. :) In the meantime, I enjoy reading about them.

Rose -- I saw about HSM concert because on the fridge one day I walked by and saw May 4 -- HSM concert on a note. :lmao:

sure tiggerrn, just let me know the day in june and i'll meet up with you.

i know you will be with a group so i won't monopolize your time, but do want to meet up with ya'

mac A Gurnee Mills Mall meet would be good.
But still plan one for Six Flags!! ;)
I remember now that that meet at Woodfield started late. And that wasn't because of me. It wasn't my choosing. I actually planned that one with DisneyMommyMichelle, and she wanted the late start, as she always says they can never get out of the house early in the day.
So next Woodfield meet can be first thing in the morning!!! :goodvibes It would make our drive from way out here in the sticks a lot easier for us too!! :)
