Disneynut- yes, we should meet up sometime at Woodfield- whenever I have a free weekend. I don't know what Doorway to Dreams guide is?

Disney Vacation CLub is opening a store called Doorway to Dreams. They will be selling memberships there. The guide sells them.

Here is what the store looks like right now. It is due to open late summer.

i'm stupid and don't know how to do the poll here in the thread. so i need someone smarter than me to teach me.

whoever wants to do a meet at s.f. and one for the mall, just post here on the thread over the next week if i can't set up a poll for it.

just give me a heads up and i'll start making a list.
list the month you want the meet for the places and we'll start from there.

I'm too scared to plan a meet (bad experience in the past with scheduling something with people from another board I'm on (not Disney) -- a flame war ensued before the meet with lots of people storming off the board. I'm just bad luck like that. ).

I've had bad luck,too,with people, planning things. A few yrs ago, DH and I were kinda thrown in a leadership position with a family small group at our church. It disbanded after 3 months for lack of interest from hte others. Got yelled and foul language from another woman(from the family small group) that really didn't like me for some odd reason . So never again for me.

I have way too much on my plate to plan things, as my kids need my attention all the time. My grandma wants attention, so we visit her at hte nursing home. DH's father is suffering from dementia and he wants us to travel 2 hrs each way to his place every once in a while for a visit.


Mac- Yes, I would be very interested in a Great America meet!
July may be a good month for us! Maybe the end of June would work too.
Also, if you could PM me that phone # for the traffic you are talking about, that would be great!


I do pick and choose what meets I can and cannot attend, due to if I'm available and distance

Now I have to figure out summer plans for the kids, as they are with me all the time for the summer. My parents don't get involved with my kids as they work all the time, 6 to 7 days/week, been like this for many yrs.

I knew Woodfield was opening the DVC store, but didn't know it was called Doorway to Dreams. I even get the Woodfield emails and they don't mention the DVC store yet.

Mac- how is Mr. Mac doing today?
Re: St. Louis Cardinals- I heard on the news today that one of the relief pitchers for the Cardinals got killed last night in a car accident. How sad That's the reason the Cub- Cardinals game got cancelled today.

Mac- If you ever want to meet up with me at Woodfield someday, let me know a few days in advance. Hope I can be available on a weekend.
It may even be easier for me to meet up on a weekday when the kiddos are still in school.

I was going to quote most of you, and reply individually but, you've all pretty much solved the 'problems' of a "Meet"! We ALL make the ones we can and, we MAKE the ones we want and can! Make any sense??? I know what I mean, anyway!

There are others, lurkers-Chicago-area DISers who want to know about/attend Meets and, because our Meets are only listed here, don't even know about these so, enjoy the chances you have together - they are special, they can form life-long relationships. There are MORE of us out there tho who want to attend! Keep THEM posted too, please. The Meet Board, maybe??

That's horrible news about the Card's player. I was pretty busy yesterday I didn't hear the news. How awful for his teammates and family.

Today should be interesting, I'm still trying to wake up. Coffee is not working. Hopefully I won't drown in the shower.

The baby shower yesterday was really nice.
The mom-to-be got some nice gifts, and I got a chance to visit with some friends

Today I am going to my orthopedic to see what my future holds for my knees. I'm hoping he will tell me that I only need PT for a little longer and no surgery

Rose - Look and see if Schaumberg has any activities for kids in the summer. Our town has so many activities for kids in the summer that look like a blast

Disneynut - I hope you had a nice lunch at Rainforest Cafe

Mac - I'm sorry your DH is still not well I'll send more PD his way

Bunchkin - How's Tony doing after working Saturday? I'll send him more PD

Tiggerrrnnnn - My kids love the park too It's so nice now that Katie is older so she can play w/o me worrying about her.

Becky - How's your DD doing with her backbrace? I hope she is still doing okay.

I also feel these Meets should be posted on the Dismeets boards, if they are open to everyone in the Chicago area.

Also, whoever wants to do Meets(big or small Dismeets), other people can step up to the plate and plan a Meet. Like I know Bunchkin has a few occasions already. And Mac has this past December and maybe doing a Great America meet in the summer.

Ok, as for me I'm done talking about Meets- yes, they are fun to go to!

Good morning!

Slo- Glad you had a good time at the baby shower yest.
Yes, Schaumburg has a ton of summer classes, etc for the kids. Just going thru if Chrissy should do NWSRA(special recreation) and what I'm trying to plan for Matthew. Most of the park dist. day camps are only half- day and for a week only where I live and they fill up very quickly. Just trying to figure out with DH what we can afford and what is best for the kids. Do this every yr around this time. If it was up to Chrissy, she would stay in her PJs all day and go swimming in our pool at our complex in hte afternoons-as this is what she likes to do
And my kids fight and yell at each other part of the time, so I will be pulling out my hair during the summer as I play referee all the time with them for many yrs

Got an instrument/pre-band meeting tonight with the band teacher. Not sure yet if Matthew is going to join band/orchestra. Tho it sounds like he wants to try it.

I personally don't think anyone should criticize how someone organizes a DIS Meet. In Bunchkin's defense, lets remember that immediately before this meet she was on vacation, and then Tony had emergency surgery - she had no time to put this on the Meet Board and then watch it all the time.

I guess if someone doesn't agree with how someone else does a Meet, then they need to take the initiative and do one themself. I was trying to not comment on all this Meet discussion, but I now feel I have to.

Sandy, no one is personally critisizing anyone here, at least not me.
Yes, I agree whoever wants to do a Meet(big meet or small meet), there are other peeps here that are capable of planning a Meet that can step up to the plate. No one is critisizing how Bunchkin planned the bowling meet, at least not me. I am very glad you all got together on Sat!

A DisMeet should be looked at as a full picture of people in the whole DIS community of the Chicago area, at least this is how I see it

I have always known others in the past that have posted the big meets onthe Dis Meet boards.

slo That's very nice of you to come to my defense! But not necessary.
I feel I owe no one any explanation for how things are planned.
Anyone can post a thread on the Meet board to let more people know about meets. If people think this needs to be done, they should step up to the plate to help out.
I mean, should we all go on and on and list just how busy our lives are that we can't make an effort to help out AND THEN COMPLAIN ABOUT THINGS!!!



And I think Tiggerrn's remark wasn't made due to that fact that people said they couldn't make the bowling meet because of the DRIVE, people stated they couldn't come for very specific reasons.
Sickness, Brownie meeting, etc.

Wow! Sounds like I missed a great meet. That bowling alley looks really cool! I like the fact that it is no smoking, too. Count me in for a POTC meet. DS, too. He is so excited! Hopefully, it will fall on weekend when he is with me!

Disneynut- I saw those crocs! Ds will love 'em! Hope you had fun at Rainforest. It makes me miss WDW, bc we always go there the night we arrive!
Well, no tennis lesson for me! I went for a jog while dbf watched NFL drafts Sat morning. Then we went out with some friends. Sun we went to BLM and did some house hunting. We saw some scary stuff, but we saw some good ones, too. We found two we love, so keep your fingers crossed! One is an especially good deal and could go fast. We are hoping we can get finances in order quickly to make an offer!
Off to the gym. I had Coldstone yesterday. I had Cookie Doughn't You Want Some (made with lite icecream, haha!)! So delicious! Enjoy your day, everybody!
