Rosemarie I never said you criticized ME.
I have, however, yet to see you not make any criticism about any MEET that has been planned.

This isn't about who likes who.
In my opinion that is very childish thinking.

And why is it you are the one that is complaining, again, and then wants to move on as if what you say shouldn't effect anyone and we should have no opinons of our own to share on the matter.

I haven't been complaining of the Meets. ANY opinions I give, YOU attack me.
ANY opinions anyone else gives, you don't attack them.

I have SEEN this for many, many months here. YOU obviously don't see it as just another opinion from me. I'm usually pretty positive here on the boards.
I just see you as negative anytime I have an opinion, because you like to attack me. And NO, this isn't childish ,it's the TRUTH!!!!

I have not complained about other meets or your bowling meet. I may have said on a couple of occasions early on , that I didn't feel comfortable at a meet , b/c I didn't know that many people.

Now this should be over with. Move on....

Let's talk in peace, shall we?

:rolleyes1 Good Morning all

I hope everyone is having a good day.

Yesterday was great! Lunch at Rainforest Cafe was great. I just love the Rainforest burger. YUM!

I finally broke down and bought my second pair of Crocs. Lime Green:yay:

I bought DD a pair too. Also bought Mickey and Minnie Jibbets. DD took the Minnie one.

It was such a great day out yesterday. I hope everyone enjoyed their Sunday.

As far as meets, if anyone is interested in Naperville/Lombard area I would be glad to plan or help. Give me an idea of what everyone likes and I can go from there.

Have a great day everyone.

:rolleyes1 Good Morning all
:lmao:

Thanks for thinking of a Lombard/ Naperville meet. I maybe interested. I really don't have opinions right now, as I might get in trouble of giving an opinion, j/k :)
That's sweet of you to think of planning it :)

Ok, gotta go. Been here too long today.

I do see a small clique here that has formed and that's fine :)

I hope we all can get along here in peace :) :goodvibes

Now this is childish and offensive. As an adult, I think the days of cliques and groups are behind us and I don't like being considered part of a clique just because I choose to participate in meets.

On several of Bunchkin's postings about this bowling meet, she put in huge letters, ALL ARE WELCOME. She wanted as many poeple to come as could possibly make it. The location couldn't have been easier to get to from any location honestly. It was directly off I-55 at Weber Road. It's a bit south, but really truly easy for anyone to get to, especially if you were using 355. We realize Saturday's are usually busy and this day was chosen many moons ago in order to give people lots of time to clear a schedule or rearrange if it were humanly possible and they were inclined to attend. If you really want to be a part of something, then you need to take the initiative and attend and be a part of it.

There will always be meetings, soccer games, birthdays and anniversaries to contend with, but I know for a fact Bunchkin hoped a lot more people could come.

We are all really worried about Jedi because she said she would definitely make it and we haven't seen her in a while.

Jedi: Hope all is well.

I think a Pirates Meet would be awesome!! I'm assuming that POTC 3 will be at least PG 13. If it's rated R, I might reconsider taking Megan.

I'm sorry this was turned into such a mess and I hope everyone can make the Pirates meet because that will be a rockin Good Time!

:Becky - How's your DD doing with her backbrace? I hope she is still doing okay.:wizard:

She's surviving as best can be expected. They called and changed her June appointment to August because the doctor will be on a leave of abscense. Bummer for her. Her appointment would have been right before camp, so it would have been nice to see if the tightening we have done is making a difference. Summer is probably going to be worse for her though as the undershirt she wears is HOT (great in winter, not so great in summer) plus then wearing your regular clothes on top of that -- so basically 3 layers even in 100 degree heat with one of those layers squishing you. :faint:

I lucked out though that they are going to do it the Friday before school starts. Poor girl misses so much school with these appointments because I basically have to plan all day for them. Of course, now that we have the brace the appointments are farther spread out compared to when it was all first going on. I know she's up to about 5 days so far this year which is probably the most she has missed since starting her school career!

I do have to get DD some more special undershirts for her brace as she was only allowed 2 by Shriner's and they aren't holding up that well. They are $50/piece though & can only be ordered through the orthotist but I want to get at least 3 more as with summertime coming up and her going off to camp, it's not like the 2 she has can get washed easily while there and since they wick away moisture & lock it in they can get rather pungent quickly! That way she will have 5 of them but I think the 2 we have won't last through the summer, we will have to get a couple more before school again next year. I don't know if we will be allowed another 2 in a year or if you are only allowed 2 period from Shriner's. I should make that call today, just have to find the number.

She also misses quite a bit with her orthodontist appointments too but *hopefully* those braces will come off next time we go! So much for our "14 months" estimate! :rotfl2: They should have come off in December -- she has NOT been a happy camper everytime we go and those braces are still ON her mouth with a "come back in X weeks" The orthodontist said hers is taking longer because she has small teeth, so they have to do it slowly with the adjustments.

The good news on the orthodontist is that the total price you pay with the estimate is what you pay. They figure the total cost then divide that by the amount of time they think it will take and that's how much per month, so we are paid in full and these appointments don't cost us anything more.

Good morning!

The Meet pictures are great! It looks like it was a lot of fun!

Disneynut ~ last week I ordered a pair of Croc flip flops. I can't want to get them!

Have a fantastic Monday all!

P.O.T.C 3 Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of action/adventure violence and some frightening images

I'm so-so on taking DD to see it but know DS will love it. Movie comes out May 25th. I would be open for a meet...I can always get a sitter for DD.

Ok, I know since I never post here, my opinion may mean nothing to you, but so be it.

As much as everyone is welcome here, this has become a "clique" thread where it is basically the same group of friends talking about their day-to-day lives. I think that is great, as I am on the "Angel" thread. There are get-togethers from time to time with that group. Since we all live across the country, it is very hard for everyone to make the get-toethers. Note that I call them get-togethers and not meets. That is because it is more intended for a group of friends to spend some RL time together. Sure, those of us who can not make it, feel bad and kinda left out, but we hope to make the next one. Plain and simple, not all friends can make it to every outing, but they are still friends. I hate to see any anger in this group, just because the get-togethers are not close enough to your home. So you can't make this one, well maybe you can the next.

I found out about the bowling meet from Dan, when I PMed him asking if he knew of any upcoming meets. I came here, found out when it was, and knew I would not be able to make it due to other things planned for that time. No big deal, I will try for the next one. I am glad to see that they are starting to be "all over" now instead of up near the airport and the like. It was always hard for me to make those since I live in Mokena, but I made the ones that I could, and read about the ones I could not.

Please try to remember that you are all here for friendship. It should not matter if you can see each other in RL or not. Maybe if you don't think of them as "meets" if they are not going to be made public to the rest of the DIS, that might help some of the sour grapes that seem to be spreading.

Anyways, enough rambling. I will pop over here if I do decide to plan a meet in the Orland area, and direct you to a thread on the Meets board.

Hi Piglet :wave2:
As for me, I appreciate your opinion :) thank you.

As the hostess of this thread, I am very sad about all this negativity that is happening here:guilty: . I am also very sad to hear that some of you consider this a "clique" because it is not:sad2:  !!!! If you feel it is a "clique" than you need to excuse yourself from this thread:snooty: . We have always welcomed everyone, and have tried to keep up in each other's lives - no one has ever not been welcomed!!!

This entire discussion about Meet locations is just ridiculous:mad: !!! If you can go - you go!!! If you can't - you can't!!! What is the big deal here:confused3  ? Am I missing something:confused3  ? I drove almost 1 1/2 hours each way to this Meet (the farthest of everyone) and I'm not complaining about it because I wanted to go - it was my choice!!!!

This whole thing is so highschoolish, and I'm just sickened by this whole thing. Rose........I'm sorry to inform you that you did start this, you did stir this pot, and this smilie popcorn:: is a little disturbing, because it's almost like you are enjoying this. You were half the distance from this meet as me, and you could have very very easily driven there. If you want a meet in your backyard, than you, and you only, need to plan this!!!!!

I normally never ever get this way on this board, because it is not my nature, but this has gone to far!!!! This has turned into a very disturbing day on the Chicago thread

Please don't flame me....as I'm sure I will be flamed.
Maybe whoever plans the next few dismeets, maybe the meets can be more centralized? Maybe Yorktown Mall in Lombard or western suburbs, so it won't be so far of a drive for us northerners here... just a real small suggestion :)
I cannot plan a meet, sorry, but just a suggestion, so everyone or most everyone can show up. I really enjoyed last yrs Cars dismeet at Yorktown Mall :)
Looking forward if we ever have a Great America dismeet in the summer :)

Please no flaming. Thanks :)

Glad the bowling meet went well!

Have a good evening everyone.
Ok, here is what I said Saturday night.

Now, I should have changed it to a question like,"Will there be any Meets in the Lombard area?""Or where are you all planning to have the Meets the next few months?" Maybe wording it that way would be less offensive to some here?

A cordial response here would be "thanks Rosemarie for your opinion or question, but we have decided to keep the Meets in the south suburbs for awhile. If anyone is willing to step up and have regional meets in your area, that would be awesome."

That's all it would be to solve the problem is hte nice, cordial response I said above. I "thought" it would be nice to have a big Dismeet thing in a centralized location, about 40 or 50 of us can show up. I guess some people do not like that idea.

Anyways, this Meet thing is solved. Disneynut has stepped up in hte Naperville area :thumbsup2 and Mac in her area :thumbsup2

Ok, I have decided to not post that much here, as I don't think it would be safe for me on this thread. I'll post to say "hi", but not tell about my life here.

I hope me stepping up was in no way shape or form to complain about meets. I have been to 2 so far. 1 in Lombard (close to home) and the other in Gurnee (about a hour away).

I would drive anywhere within reason to meet up with my fellow disers.(even to WDW)

I just offered to set up the next meet to take off the stress of the ones that have normally been setting them up. I live in Naperville and work in Lombard so I have access to events going on in the area.

I was surprised by the postings I have seen today and am sorry if my post was taken out of text in anyway.

Rose - you need to drop this, you really do, for all our sake.

This has truly gone on long enough!!!!!

You complaining about this Meet being to far from you, would be like me complaining about the Indianapolis Meet being to far from me, and those DISers should make it closer to my house so I can go. If you want to go, you get in the car and drive :car: Why are we dragging this out??????? Just let it go already!!!!!!:headache: :headache: :headache: :headache: :headache:

Yes, it would have.

No one is keeping meets anywhere?? People live in a certain area, so they plan meets in those areas. I drove to O'Hare for the Mickey Magic Show Meet. I drove to Schererville, IN for the Meet the Robinson's meet. Each of those is a good distance from me. No one is keeping them anywhere??

Nobody has said there can't be a meet in a centralized location. And not one person here said they didn't like the idea of anyone's location!!

And so you stir the pot, eat your popcorn, enjoy the turmoil, then make a huffy flounce? Sorry you feel this way, but it's your perogative. :sad2:

Sorry Slo... I just wanted to highlight some misconceptions above.

I didn't think that at all!

A DisMeet in Naperville for POTC III would be GREAT, but since Slo does have to drive so far for most meets, I would like to nominate a Ratatouille meet in Schererville, Indiana, Kerasotes Theaters. It's not that hard to get to and it takes some of the load off of her having to be the one to drive the furthest for EVERY meet.

Do I Have a Second??

Disneynut I didn't think you were complaining either.
And I think it's great if you want to organize a meet! I think everyone should take a turn and not just wait for someone else to plan them! :)
If you'd like to plan the POTC3 meet near you that would be fine with me.
Of course don't think we are trying to push you into planning it!! ;)

As for Ratatouille, I think my vote goes to either Kersotes in New Lenox and then in Schererville.
Since slo had such a short drive for Meet the Robinson's, we don't want her getting spoiled by thinking all movie meets are going to be near her!! :rotfl: :lmao:

OK, who wants to plan a Galena meet?

(Of course, I won't be there, because it's too far to drive... :lmao: )

I would love to plan a meet. I think it will be fun.
Knowing Pirates comes out on the 25th and memoral day is that weekend would you all like it on the 26th or June 1st?

We can go to Cinamark at Seven Bridges in Woodridge or AMC at Yorktown in Lombard.

Let me know your thoughts and I will go from there.

I love planning anything Disney:woohoo:
