Hi Everyone!
It's the first day of school and once again, I teared up when my baby got on the schoolbus. Big bus, little nervous person, and an overly sentimental Mom = Misty Eyes. Thank goodness for sunglasses, she didn't see me mist over.
She got out of bed this morning and said, Mom, I'm scared. I sat down with her on my lap and told her, I had a big secret for her. The secret is that... So is everyone else!! I told her all your friends will be nervous this morning too. It's totally normal. I gave her a good game plan about just going to her room, saying hi to the teacher, finding her desk, and I told her to just sit quiet and watch what's going on. I said, if you are too busy blabbering, you won't hear the instructions the teacher gives. I said, you'll be coming home on the bus before you know it!
I remember those first nervous days of school and I told her all the stuff I wished my Mom would have said to me. My Mom was a drill seargent. She'd just tell us to get dressed and go to school. I always thought I was the only one who had butterflies in my tummy the first few days of school.
Slo: Yes, we went to AG Place yesterday and it was a really nice trip. A perfect cap to a really nice summer. Megan had her Nicki and her Bitty. Nicki had her hair done. It was fun, but scary at first. They brushed Nicki's hair
and I thought they had taken all the curl out! I nearly died. Megan almost cried, but the girl said, she was going to put them all back in... Whew! Her hair looks amazing! We bought one outfit for Bitty, one for Nicki, and one for her Just Like Me Doll, Emily, and the hair care kit (brush, book, video, hair-bobs) and that's it. I told her we weren't buying out the store and I think we did pretty good. So, that was it, plus the $10.00 hair-do for Nicki and the girls there are sooo sweet, they threw in a few ribbons on Bitty's head for free! I got to see a picture of Julie Albright and her friend Ivy and both dolls are adorable, but I have to admit, Julie is just downright gorgeous for a doll. I can't wait for her to come out.
My other favorite is the Elizabeth doll from the 1774 collection. I keep trying to talk Megan into getting her, but she's non-plussed. She likes Kit. Sigh... Elizabeth is so beautiful and clothes are drool-worthy!
So, anyway, it was a really really nice day and I told Megan we really hadn't had that nice a day in a long time. We were both a bit crabby the day we went to the Doorway to Dreams thing and we got on each other's nerves, but yesterday turned out wonderfully! Megan was so upbeat and happy and there was no attitude all day.
So, I can't wait for her to get off the bus and it won't be long now! So, I'll have sign on later once I get to hear all about the big first day of school!

I'm so ready to crash!!
Loves her teacher. And her room is decorated to the hilt in horse/ranch decorations and stuff. It's very cute.

I am so tired this morning
I can definitly understand the emotions you had yesterday
I had those 2 a couple of years ago when Stephanie started 1st grade (that's was the first time she had to go on the bus).
What a nice memory for both of you
I thought about them often yesterday. I"ll send loads of PD their way
I am floored and actually a little heartbroken for them.
I never understand the motives of someone who would want to hurt little kids. Now no one was physically hurt or burned, but the kids are so bummed and they won't have a playground now for at least a month. The kids and staff at the middle school up the hill are being very nice and have offered the use of their playground when it is not being used by the middle school kids. This was obviously very purposeful given that they have found traces of accelerant.

). We were really, really curious as to how many kids since no one DD asked seemed to be taking it, the counselors called me trying to get DD to drop it (long story) & then come to find out the French teacher isn't even there on 1/2 days but we did figure that out because she's part-time and so would only work afternoons -- that is why she isn't there on 1/2 days. They had a sub who doesn't speak French.
Poor thing -- we didn't have to deal with that last year as she had it off for lunch, so either she will have to sit on the end or get a chair if she gets stuck. She's resiliant though, I know she'll figure something out either that or have her first embarassing moment of the school year (and if she's like me -- she will have many more to come!). At least they will all think she has super great posture.
The retention area across the street from our house was 1/2 full last night, and I'm hoping it went down some today, because it could overflow like it did last year with the more storms that's coming tonight - THAT WOULD BE BAD!!!!
