am i a thread killer or what......

when you're good, you're good........ :rolleyes1

I'm getting my haircut next week. Do you think I look good with short hair? It's a lot longer now. I can't decide if I should go short again.

Morning!

Well last night DBF's friends didn't get here until Midnight, but we still went up to the North side and met them for a drink. We ended up getting home about 2 and going to sleep by 3. I'm a little groggy this morning still, so forgive potential bad spelling. And they want to meet downtown for lunch....but the place sounds really nice-Gibson's-so I think I can drag myself out for that! :)

I too have a music degree! I graduated with a degree in Music and Business back in Ohio. I've been singing for years and I especially love to sing in choirs. I currently am with the Rockefeller chapel choir down here at U of C. I'll post it next time there is a concert-maybe you music lovers could come! It would be so cool! I promise the group is phenomenal, and not just because I'm in it :teeth:

Bunchkin sorry to hear about DH's workers comp problems. I used to work in WC and I must say that those state employees in WC are the worst!! Its run out of a Buerou (sp) in Ohio which is really just a fancy word for lots of red tape. Its a mess! Hopefully they get that straightened out, but at least hes working now!

I leave 1 week from today!! WOO HOO!  :cheer2:

Slo hope you get the green out! Although it would be fitting for your upcoming MNSSHP! Have fun going out to Michigan City. Let me know if their power is still out. I heard its been out since Wednesday

Happy Birthday Geffric!! :cool1:   :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :dance3: Hope its fabulous!

Michelle you can wear whatever you want to Wicked-but if your DH asks, it is new outfit only day at the theatre and there will be no admittance to people without new outfits! :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Hello all Chicago!

Hi Chicago area Diser's :wave2:

I hope you don't mind me butting in to your thread here, I just thought you would be the best people to ask :)

I am from the uk, but I am coming to the Chicago area (specifically Naperville) for a year for college, in just over a week ( :scared1: ) and I was just wondering if you could tell me a little bit about the area?

What is the weather like generally throughout the year (and what should i be prepared for in the depths of winter ;)) Is there good shopping - especially for kitting out my dorm room etc? How far is the commute in to Chicago from Naperville?

Also, does anyone know anything about North Central College? I have read the website and everything they have sent me, but it would be nice to here about it from local people :)

Thanks so much in advance!!

Hey everyone. I got cancelled for 4 hours this morning. Convinced it was divine intervention. Got a DING for SW for $59 one way and $49 the other. Total trip for 4 with taxes and fees just over $500. Don't think I could drive for that with the price of gas. :cool1: :cheer2: :woohoo: I'll go back and read shortly. Just thought I'd share my joy!!!

Hi Disney Star! Welcome to the thread!

First of all, the commute from Naperville can get quite long at certain parts of the day. During regular rush hour it can take up to 2 hours one way! Best way to avoid this is just leave early and head back late. There may be a side street way to get there from downtown, but sorry I don't know it :confused3

Naperville is beautiful. It is one of the most well off Suburbs in my opinion. Lots of great shopping-not to worry. I'm not sure if theres a metra line that goes down there, but if there is, you'd be a train ride away from the city and all its shopping!

I've never heard of North Central, so I'll turn it over to someone else to answer that one!

Welcome to the thread. Please stop by often! :goodvibes

Disstar :welcome: Chicago weather is ever changing. Leave in shorts, need pants and coat by evening. Seriously, though. Fall requires sweatshirt/jacket, jeans. Winter needs layers. Not so much snow these winters. We used to get bombed, but now it's just mostly cold/windy. There's always that chance. Just hasn't happened in recent years. Spring is usually jeans/jacket right up until you can wear shorts. One day it's cold, and the next summer is here. It's been weird. Enjoy your stay in the States. Where are you from in the UK? I have friends that live in Nottinghamshire.
geffric :bday: Hope you have a great day.
All the rest of you fellow Chicago Disers, have a great weekend!!!
We've started our countdown board. I know the man at the HD thought I was nuts taking 44 mickeyhead paint chips in Halloween colors!! :lmao:
Only 2weeks and 6 days til the first NSSHP and we'll all know how that will play out.

Thanks Tiggerrn2! I will be sure to bring lots of kinds different clothes. I'm from Berkshire (about 40 minutes drive west of London) but go to school (apart from this year obviously) in Leicestershire, which is one county down from Nottinghamshire - small world! :cool1:

call me anything......i respond to any name when there is food involved in it.

:teeth:

most do call me mac.
feel free to do the same.

in fact, most of my McRaven cousins go by the nickname of Mac like i do.
nothing like having a roomful of 20 people and they all respond to Mac.
:rolleyes1

Hi!!

Well, the person who was supposed to come this morning didn't!! :furious: And when I called about it the girl in the office knew nothing and then put me on hold to find out. She said there was some sort of emergency (landscaping emergency??? :confused3 ) and just found out herself. I said shouldn't someone have called me??? I told them not ot bother rescheduling me. This is not how I conduct my business, I expect the same from others. :sad2:

slo I hope your haircut goes well!!! I'm sure you're happy to be rid of the green!! You know...."It's not easy being green"!! :rolleyes1
Thanks for the comment on the workers comp situation. Hopefully it will get resolved without too much hair pulling! :)

Mindy I have so see what I can do about adding to the Wicked total!!
The workers comp we are dealing with is a insurance co, not a state run agency. The woman is just obviously not abe to calculate properly. I dread calling her on Monday though, she can be quite a little priss!!
:rotfl2:
Hope you have a good lunch at Gibson's!! I have heard they are yummy!!
We are going to Ruth Chris for our anniversay, another steak joint in the city, and I can't wait!! YUM-O!!!

DisneyStar :welcome: to our thread!!! Hope you stop by often!!

Naperville is wonderful!! Lots of quaint shops, big malls, great food, lots of culture. Very prosperous area as well.
My sister's ex-boyfriend went to North Central and really liked it there. I have heard lots of good things about that school.
There is a train system, the Metra, that runs from Naperville to Chicago. It would be less of a hassle to take the train then to drive. Commuting to Chicago is a nightmare no matter what area you are coming from.

I wish you safe travels on your journey here!! And much luck at school!!
Check in with us, as we often like to get together for DIS meets!! We like to have lots of fun!!! :teeth:

I just heard from Mr. Bunchy about a ton more work we are taking on right before and after vacation!!! I have no idea how he is going to manage this!! The man is a work-aholic!!! ::yes:: This happens around every trip! We always end up having business calls interupt our entire trip!! :sad2:
And I wanted him to do some work around here!! Guess who is getting put on hold!!! :teeth:
Anyone know a good painter??? Mine's busy!!! :rotfl:
