chefs de france

My family of 3 loves Chefs de France. It may be our favorite. I dream about the braised beef short ribs avec les haricots vert. And the sorbet is phenomenal.

Remy can be seen during the lunch hours, but is not guaranteed. He makes a round through the restaurant and if you miss him..he can't come back to the table. He's really neat, but not the reason to book this restaurant. The food is the reason and we've received great service, as well.

I have food allergies and I have been well taken care of.:goodvibes

It's been about a year since we ate at Chefs, so I don't know if something has changed recently. When we ate there last, it was great as usual. I always get the duck & love it. My DH & DS have tried a few different entrees. We also order appetizers & desserts, & are happy with them. Naturally, some were better than others. Chefs is our 2nd favorite park restaurant. (HBD is our favorite.) We go there just about every trip. The servers have always spoken English well enough for us to easily understand them, but I'm sure some speak better English than others. In our many visits that has never been a problem for us.

We had a truly dreadful meal here. Overcooked greasy food. Nothing like real French food. Very disappointing and never again!

We eat there every year, a must do for us. In fact it is the only Epcot restaurant that we have eaten at every year since we started getting the Dining Plan (6 years in a row).

Last year I had the Prixe Fixe menu (great for the Dining Plan) - Lobster Bisque, Macaroni with Guyere cheese, and Creme Brule for dessert. C'est très magnifique!

On top of that it is a very nice setting. We had a great seat by the window with a lovely view of "France".

It's been a couple years since we've been there, but I still think about the creme brulee!! So, fabulous dessert, but the meal itself doesn't stand out...good, not "amazing". I made some French onion soup with dinner tonight and my daughter (10) said it was "Ok, but the BEST EVER is at the France restaurant at Epcot. We ARE going there right?!?!?!" (we leave in 9 days!!). Yes, DD, we are going there!

I've only been there for dinner and I didn't love my dish (the duck). It wasn't bad - it was just okay. I think my fiance felt the same about the seafood trio in lobster broth. I'd like to try lunch there and get the prix fixe. It seems like most of the good reviews center on a few traditional dishes, like roast chicken, gruyere mac and cheese, quiche, onion soup, lobster bisque, and profiteroles. (I did like my creme brulee, but I love creme brulee in all its incarnations, so I'm a little biased :) )

We had lunch there on Saturday and we had excellent food, excellent champagne and excellent service. I highly recommend the cheese plate. It was fantastic.

sorry i just voted this as my worst restaurant on that thread. maybe it was my luck but my food was overcooked and bland both times. my mother also was not thrilled. i would also say its far from real french food. when people are voting the best dish at a french restaurant is things like mac& cheese, ribs, and bacon/blue cheese salad that gives you an idea of what to expect.

We just ate there last week and loved it. I had the chicken and crenels brûlée and it was excellent. The kids had chicken and pasta and ate a ton. Remy was cute and the server was great and attentive to my allergies. This was one of our favorite meals and we had two to three table service meals a day. The kids were very entertained here even with our meal taking 1.5-2 hours.

We ate there a couple weeks ago, and I can't say that we were impressed. The French Onion soup was quite yummy, and I liked the cheese puff (DD wouldn't touch it). But the baked mac & cheese was quite bland, as was the creme brulee. But the worst part was how long it took... We were in there for a good 2 hours... even saw Remy twice. Don't really know what the delay was all about...

the best part of my meal there was the potatoes...but that isn't saying much because they were clearly cooked so long that all the potato was missing from the inside and it was just kind of a baked outer shell with a hollow centre. I am about 99% sure that it was cooked some time earlier in the week and reheated in the microwave which is why they cover everything in so much sauce (so it doesn't dry as much just like airplane food)

eat at Chefs every other trip. We used to go for dinner but now do lunch to keep from being too full at bed time.

We have never had bad food at this restaurant....service that was interrupted, yes, but not bad.

The ham and cheese sandwich at lunch is more than you can eat and the French onion soup is wonderful...

We really like Chefs. Been there twice now. The onion soup is very good. Their salmon is also very very good. I had the flat bread and the mac & cheese last time and they were both good. The first time I had the short ribs & egg noodles. The ribs were excellent but the pasta had no taste, so I would only half recommend that dish lol...If you like wine, they have a good selection and pretty reasonably priced too. The servers are good but the hostesses are not very nice.

Question?

Dont want to start a new thread, so wondering if anyone knows the answer here first.

We are going to eat here in March and we are on the DDP, wondering if you can order from the Prix Fixe 3 Courses Menu?

Also, if anyone has experience with needing a vegetarian menu for children? My dd4 is a vegetarian and would like the baked mac, so hoping they will just give her a childs portion of this and not be a big fuss.

Thanks!

For years I wasn't a fan of Chefs de France, mostly because the menu selctions didn't have much for my "meat and potatos" taste. I have to say that the last few times I was there the food was very good (I had the chicken both times). For me, that makes it one of the few Disney-run restaurants that I'll bother with since so many have gone way downhill in recent years. That said, I suppose any such restaurant can have an off day.

Is Chefs de France still offering the Prix fixe menu at lunch time? The Allears.net website is still showing this available in March 2011 and I recall seeing it on the menu in August 2011, but wdwinfo.com isn't showing the prix fixe menu in their September 2011 update. We have a lunch reservation in the first week of January.

with thanks!

We went for lunch during our anniversary trip.

I LoOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVED the Onion Soup. Seriously I should have just ordered two bowls and been done with it.

I got the Prix Fix meal with the ham and cheese sandwich. I guess I wasn't very hungry because I only ate about 1/4 of my sandwich. I felt that it was too greasy.

DH had the onion soup as well. He loved it too. He got the quiche and enjoyed it but after he saw my sandwich he wished he had ordered it instead. So he ate part of mine too!

Seeing Remy was really great!!! But he was really fast! He'd be very easy to miss during a restroom break though.
