I decided to try Chefs de France (as part of the Candlelight Processional Dinner Package). I was completely disappointed!

When I went to the desk to check in for our reservations, I was told there was no reservation and that "You must be mistaken." I repeated we had the Candlelight Processional Dinner Package and the young lady sighed and said, "Oh, I always forget...here it is. Just wait over there." No apologize no correction.

The menu was very limited (compared to the posted menu items). We had the goat cheese salad and the escargot. Both items were ok. We then had the steak and the short rib...again both items were ok. The dessert (crepe and puff with ice cream) was horrible....no taste.

For the price we paid $62 each, it was not worth it at all. The service was spotty. We could never find out server. When we asked for her to come to the table, it would take a good 10 minutes. When she dropped off the bill with dessert, we noticed the badges for the show were incorrect (it was 6:25 and the badges were for the 6:45 show). Again, she was nowhere to be found. We asked the waitress to inquire about the times and she said no.

I couldn't believe it. She said to go to the front counter and if it was incorrect, it was their fault, not hers. We did have the wrong passes.

I wouldn't recommend this restaurant at all. We did comment to the staff at Conceriege about this horrible service and food choice. Live and learn....I shouldn't have ventured away from Le Cellier!

But.....we did see Trace Adkins at the hotel! That was a true gift!!!!

It's a shame you had a bad experience. We were there for the CP dinner package at Chefs de France on Sunday the 21st and had a wonderful time. The food was good and the waiter was exceptional.

Did you ask to speak with the manager? The attitude she gave was just part of the theming! The French aren't known for being polite :)

I am so sorry to hear that you had such a horrible time at Chefs de France. We have gone for both lunch and dinner and have had wonderful food and service at both. We are going back in May for lunch and cannot wait (hoping to see Remy again), as for the dessert it is one of my favorites, just hoping they didn't change it because I had fallen in love with it in September when we went. For some reason I want to say that if you got a dinner package you can only select from a certain food items, not the whole menu, but I could be wrong. Hope you have a better time in the future at Le Cellier.

:lmao:My DH is French and we say the same thing. The maitre'd at chefs always cracks us up he is sooo French.
OP, maybe give it another try when they are less busy. We always make a point to have one meal there and it is usually really good.

That was for a 3 course meal? Even if the service was impeccable what you ate lee was the worth that! It's just another good example of how the prices have skyrocketed while the quality has sunk. Disney no longer has fine dining by any stretch of the imagination.

I thought the prix fix menu at Chefs was $37 pp, is it more for candle light?

I would have said something about the poor service. I have eaten at Chefs several times and never experienced bad service. I don't think it was just "French attitude". It sounds like you had just plain bad service.

CP packages are totally different pricing, set by tiers depending on which restaurant you choose. Chefs is a Tier 3 (highest) restaurant and the CP package was $61.99 pp.

Don't forget that this package is also basically acting as a ticket to the candle light processional as well. The package makes sure that you have a reserved seat for the show so you really are buying a dinner and a reserved seat. The price is not only for the meal.

:scared1: Wow and it is pretty much the same food that is on the menu. I don't like the idea of that at all. It is like going out for NYE they serve the same food a 2X the price. I will not being paying for the Candle Light, that is crazy.
OP, I would be not very happy either.

Really? Because you pay more for better seats at a football game. Likewise, you pay for better seats at the CP. The meal just goes along with it. It's a package, not just a dinner or just the CP. You pay for the dinner, approx. $37 and you pay for seating at the CP, approx. $22.

I reviewed OP's description of what they ordered and here is an estimate of their bill from the regula dinner menu.

Diner #1
Escargots $10.95
Ribs $28.95
Dessert $7.25
Drink/coffee $2.95
TOTAL $50.10

Diner # 2
Goat cheese salad $8.50
Steak $34.95
Dessert $7.25
Drink/coffee $2.95
TOTAL $53.65

Does the CP package price of $61.99 include tax or tip? Even if it doesn't, it seems like you're only paying about $10 for the reserved seating. If the package includes either tax or gratuity...it's a bargain and the ticket is basically free.

I agree that the OP had service issues, but the package value should be considered separately.

I've never done the CP package at any location, but I have eaten more than once at Chefs and recall having at least one excellent service and no bad ones.

We've been for lunch and dinner. We had a dreadful dinner experience, but loved lunch. Probably won't risk dinner again, but I'd go back for lunch in a heartbeat.

We have eaten many places at Disney on the dining plan and without a doubt this place had the worst food of any. My duck was clearly cooked in the microwave

Sorry you didn't have a good meal, this is one of our absolute favorites. We have always had good food and service

Glad I'm not the only one to experience the dreaded duck there. As for the service, we found the waiter somewhat pushy. We listened to his suggestions and chose what we wanted, with no wine or apps and his attitude changed immediately. Our food was brought out in minutes and then he took H's plate without asking if he was done(while watching Remy). We will not be returning ever!

OP-sorry you had a terrible experience.

We tried Chefs de France for the first time in September and it was one of our least favorite meals. The service was ok (some good service, some not) and the food was just so-so. The best meal was the kids cheese pastry! The steak was not worth the price and I would definitely recommend Le Cellier over this restaurant. I won't be back either.

Sorry to hear that. My son has had the duck 3 years in a row and loved it every time. We really enjoy Chefs but but as with any restaurant people have different experiences.

Was there in September and will not be returning. They tried to double charge me for my entree. They were ever so accommodating of my food allergy (note the sarcasm here)... At many of the other restaurants we went to the chefs really tried to give me a stellar experience. Chefs de France made me feel like I was a burden and a bother (the chef couldn't even be bothered to come out and talk to me, I had to rely on the waiter who's English was somewhat spotty to tell me what I could/couldn't have) and they did not even try to give me something that tasted good. I ended up with plain duck that was definitely not worth the price.

Totally agree with the OP. We had lunch there the first weekend of October, and the food was awful. The service wasn't very good, either. ;/
