Chef Mickey's

We went in 2007 and LOVED Chef Mickey's. Our kids had so much fun! I was planning on making a DINNER ADR for our upcoming trip in Dec. I have seen many bad reviews lately,,,has anyone gone RECENTLY and actually enjoyed Chef Mickey's? I have to make my ADR's June 7!!!! Thanks!

We went on Friday (5/28/2010), and the whole family had a good experience. It helped that our Minnie Mouse-loving daughters had their first visit from Ms. Mouse about 12 seconds after we sat down, but we were all able to find plenty of food that we liked, even our picky DD3.

The food was not Jiko-quality, but I thought it was very good. I liked the buffet better than 1900 Park Fare. My DD3 and DD5 are split on the Mac and Cheese there, but both of them ate well and enjoyed the experience.

I think it's hit or miss. We went the 9th and had an awesome time. Great server. Characters were spaced out and spent lots of time with each family. Buffet well stocked and never all that busy. Loved it!!

We went again on the 23rd and had an awful time. Our server ignored us and got our drinks wrong. All the characters came out within a few seconds of getting to our table. They were SUPER rushed in and out. Families seemed to have no issue letting their children butt in on other tables when the characters were there. (Thankfully that didn't happen to us, but I was soo close to speaking to the little Peter Pan boy's mommy after seeing what she was allowing!) Buffet items were very picked over and never seemed to get refilled. The line for the buffet was total madness and super duper slow moving, too. If the 23rd had been my only experience there, I'd never return!

I went there for dinner with my nieces last summer; I was also a bit scared from the reviews. But we all had a nice time and had no issues with cleanliness or horrible food or anything like that. Maybe we're just more easygoing? None of us are anything close to gourmet eaters so the food suited us just fine and there was plenty for us all to enjoy- even Miss Picky Eater. I mean, I can't say that the food was my favorite of the week or anything- but it was good.

(it's not THAT recent, but the same kind of reviews were prevalent when I made my ADR's)

Just about every restaurant seems to get mixed reviews here, and I think experiences can really vary widely depending on timing/cast members as well as personal preferences. I wouldn't totally eliminate a restaurant from consideration based solely on reviews here if it's somewhere you really want to eat, especially if you enjoyed it before.

We're like Belle - fairly easy going and not expecting gourmet food by any stretch.

Haven't been to dinner there in awhile - we prefer breakfast overall.

In any case if you're worried about food in terms of freshness, plentifulness (is that even a word?) and spacing out of characters - I would recommend you get as early an ADR as possible. For 1900 (where we do tend to do dinner in order to see Cindy/ Charming etc) we get a 4:30 ADR every time. Food is fresh out of the kitchen, staff is fresh, friendly and ready to go and best of all the characters are well spaced out at that time. To us it's the most relaxed time to dine (worth eating early for that meal IMO).

We had a late ADR there over Thanksging week and really enjoyed it. It's one of the few places my hubby is bound and determined to return to even on the DxDP. Character interaction was great for us, our server was nice and the food was good (we do consider ourselves foodies and woulden't consider this food gourmet by any means, or even great but we were pleasently filled and satisfied and there was a decent selection.)

My family and I have had dinner there a few times and each time has always been a positive experience, plus we never found anything wrong with their food offerings.
