We'll be at WDW August 21-26. Our travel agent tried to book us for a dinner at Chef Mickey's, but they were totally booked during our trip. Why is that? I didn't realize it was that popular!

It is so much fun and it is "THAT" popular. I would just keep calling back, some one is going to cancel a reservation between now and August.

The characters are great but the food was really bad for us. Just your basic run of the mill buffet.

We have it booked for Breakfast & Dinner. My boys love it. CM has a lot of character interaction and the kids enjoy it. The food at BK is much better then dinner. We always have BK at the begin. of our trip and at the end we do dinner. Keep calling and I bet you will get something. Good Luck.

Any of the Character Meals are usually very popular and with free dining they will all be packed!!!

My boys love Chef Mickey's!!! I have never had a problem booking it on previous trips but we are going during free dining this time. My ADR window finally opened today and I called at 7:00am but the CM told me that there was no openings for dinner any day of our trip. We are going August 24-27. She suggested we keep calling back in case of a cancellation. Hopefully we will get lucky:) Good Luck!!

Should I answer this one or get my 7yo nephew to give you his animated version. :yay:

CM's is just awesome, definitely tell your TA no is not an option and that they have to keep trying back, mulitple times a day if needed. Also it doesn't matter if its bfast or dinner, just go.

It is popular...Keep your eyes peeled though..Last year during free dining they did announce that they would be available for lunch during free dining only.So keep looking:goodvibes

Not only is Chef Mickey's very popular for both breakfast and dinner, the line up to get in before they open is something you need to see to believe.

This is the # 1 pick for my kids!!! and they all agree ( a rare thing:rolleyes1)
This was the must have of my ADR's so much so I booked it twice, I cancelled one last night and the CM tried to talk me out of it and then I was honest and told him I already had it for another night. He said it is a very coveted ADR. I feel luck I have it and that is why I promptly cancelled the other one too.;)

Don't you think this is just going to be harder than ever to get once the Bay Lake Tower is open??????

I don't think so because Chef Mickey's has always been a popular location for many years and I would say a good number of guests who eat there are not staying at the Contemporary or Bay Lake Tower. Plus since everyone has the same chances to make ADR's there with the 90 + 10 day rule, it's still fair game when it comes to getting ADR's there.

Call Dining yourself, the new computer system is really sucky and I can tell you that I got Chef Mickey's very easily at the time I wanted on a Friday night (august 28th) no less! So pick up the phone and call and if still nothing. Call again the next day. Persistence pays off. Is it worth it? If you have kids...absolutely. They will love it. Heck, I love it!! despite the noise. the food pretty decent too.

I keep wanting to try there because I love the Contemporary, but I keep hearing that the food is just really sub-par - and no, I don't book any dining based on "you're there for the atmosphere". Can anyone tell me if the food is fit to eat?

We were just at Chef Mickey's on May 9th. We made this our first meal after arriving. The food was definitely up to Disney standards. We thought the quality and food variety was very good. Of course the goodies to end the meal were also amazing. We also went to the Crystal Palace for my son's actual 2nd birthday . . . we found that to be a huge disappointment.

I was just at CM on Saturday and when I told our server how hard it was to get a reservation he told me to come just as they open@5 and we should have no trouble at all getting in anytime.....don"t know how true it is but its worth a shot.
