We are going to Chef Mickey's during our trip in July. We have a later morning reservation and are planning to go to Downtown Disney afterwards - no parks that day. Is there a way to not have to pay to park to go to our character breakfast? We aren't staying on the property, so driving to the parks everyday is a must.

Thanks!

I believe you can park in contemporary parking lot, we always just tell them we have a reservation for breakfast or dinner and they send us through to the correct parking lot.....but we might not have to pay because we stay on site?

You could park directly at the Contemporary for three hours without having to pay at the Magic Kingdom gates (follow resorts road which bypasses these), or why don't you park at Downtown Disney and get the bus to the Contemporary Resort and back?

Just park at the CR. There's no reason to take that long bus ride back and forth if you don't have to.

As others have said, you can park at the resort for three hours while you dine.

I agree... you can let them know at the entrance that you are going to have breakfast at the resort, and you can park free.

Good luck, and :welcome: to the DISboards.

Thanks for all of y'alls help! We have never stayed on site, so I am assuming that there will be signs pointing us in the direction of the Contemporary Resort?

Signage at Disney is excellent. Follow the signs to the Magic Kingdom Resort Area, and then signs will point you directly to the CR.

FYI, you do have to go through the toll plaza for the T&TC to get to the Contemporary. Pick one of the booths on the right and tell them you are going to the Contemp. They will wave you through.

If you have a GPS, you can download a WDW POI (Point of Interest) file for free from mousesavers.com.

It's a lot more detailed then the standard POI file from the GPS manufacturer.

Those are two important items.....First follow signs towards MK, and then to Contemporary. And stay to your right as you approach the park lot pay gates, you will not have to pay.

Welcome to the DIS, enjoy.

Both times we stayed off site, we had meals at Chef Mickey's. We used this as a self-declared 'Disney non-park day' where we sortof did Disney without using a park admission.

We drove to the Contemporary Resort and parked in their lot. When we drove up, the attendant asked for our reservation time and restaurant, and gave us a parking pass.

We had a late breakfast at Chef Mickey, which was really almost lunchtime for my kids. Then we took some time to look in the gift shop. We then took a monorail ride in a circle, bringing us back to the Contemporary. It was fun:) By the time we were done, we felt we had experienced some Disney Magic, and had some good use of our day.

Welcome to the Dis boards...CM easy to find as others have said but when you go through that furthest right hand lane for cars at the toll booth (and no charge for only going to CR) not the last as that is buses.... only you will bear to the right but NOT make a right immediately after the booth that would take you to Fort Wilderness....take it all the way down after you see the sign for Kennel drop-off (just giving you a landmark) which will be on your left j....ust keep going straight CR will come up on your right hand side

You'll have fun !

I'm going to move this to our transportation board.

We had dinner at CM on our arrival day on our first ever WDW trip. The kids loved it. Met the characters, took a ride on the monorail (ds got to sit up front with the pilot, sadly they no longer do this) and went to the gift shop. Our thought was the same as yours. Experience the magic without a park day. We stayed offsite also. Everything was very well marked. Our only glitch was getting lost going back to our rental hosue. :confused3 So kind of pay attention to how you entered so you know how to leave.

Have a great time!
