Checkout Day Luggage Storage Question

Our flight doesn't leave until 8:50 PM on our checkout day. I plan to do the RAC, and know I can leave my carry on's with bell services. Here's my question....what about my laptop? Is it safe to check it with bell services in my carry-on bag? Has anybody ever had any problems with that sort of thing?

I've never had a problem leaving my laptop or hubby's CPAP machine with Bell/Luggage Services before or after checkout.

Although, after a recent incident switching resorts, I don't think I'd let All-Star Movies actual "move" those items from one resort to another, but just storing them, no problem.

I know of someone else who put their laptop, DVD player in a locker near the pool area on their last day. I'm not sure if all resorts have lockers, but it might be another option.

We left our DVD player in our luggage and had no problem.

Yes, it's OK, but you should tell them that it contains valuables and ask for secure storage. That way it won't inadvertently be left out stacked on a luggage cart when it gets busy.

I put all the most expensive stuff in one bag (DD's DVD player, me and DH's prescription medications) and ask for secure storage for it. I haven't had a problem and we've done it several times.

I was wondering if this was a free service, if we take our bags to the main lobby for a later pick up? Should I tip?

Thank you, as you can tell, I don't travel much :)

I would probably tip.

When I stay at a Value Resort, I generally call ahead of time and arrange for them to be picked up after I've left for the morning and usually leave a $5 bill on top.

When I pick them up, I generally don't tip then. (Because technically, at Values, it is Luggage Service, and is a non-tipped position.)

If I were staying at a moderate or Deluxe with Bell Services, I would probably tip at every juncture, when they picked them up, and when they handed them back to me.

Any time someone 'touches' your bags, they will feel entitled to a tip. So, yes, if you drop your bags off at bell services for storage, give them a tip of about $1-2 per bag. Then, do the same when you return to pick the bags up.

One thing....we stored our bags at the Swan. We returned, got our bags, put them in the car. My dd took her string bag, that she had left with bell services, and pulled out her MP3 player. Well, it had a nice crack in it...evidently, bell services had put something heavier on top of that bag, and crushed the face of the MP3 player. Now, we didn't go back, there was no way to prove they had damaged it. But, a word to the wise, put everything away so as to protect it from 'storage damage'.
