Checking in before member get there.

We are going down with some friends this weekend who are also members. They made the ressie on their points for a 2 BR but we will get there several hours before they do. What is the policy on checking in when this occurs? Can we get in the room?

I LOVE spur of the moment trips, using other peoples points would be a tie

Make sure that the actual member has your names as additional names on the reservation (this may mean a call to MS). If your names are on the reservation as additional guests in the room you will be allowed to check into the reservation (and be issued the room provided it is clean when you get there). If your names are not on the reservation they will not allow you to check into it unless the member calls the hotel and authorizes you on the reservation

We are planning to surprise them too. These are somefriends that we go to WDW a lot with. 2 years ago the husband was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and had it removed. Then last year they detected more in his body so New Years day he flew out to MD Anderson in Houston and spent a week there. So now next month he is going back Valentines week for surgery. They are very optomistic but he's very afraid still of being cut open like that, like open heart almost, through the chest. So we went out to dinner 2 weeks ago and started talking about doing a Disney trip before the surgery. His use year is Feb and he had a bunch of points he was fixing to lose so instead of paying cash and getting an AP rate somewhere, he booked a 2 BR at SSR to burn up the points!! So we're gonna get there early and do up their bed room before they get there that night.

What loving friends you are! May God grant a successful surgery for your friend and rapid recovery. Have fun at WDW and look forward to many more trips with your friends!!

Due to some problems where friends (whose names were on the reservation) had trouble checking in, OKW told me to call the front desk a few days before arriving to make sure all the names were listed. One friend even had a copy of the confirm in hand and OKW would not let her check in. We had to get member services involved since a couple of us were still in transit.

So now no matter where we are staying, I call and confirm.

We've been to the last three Food and Wine festivals, last year's Flower festival, we do a week long family trip together every June, and then maybe an occasional spur of the moment trip like this with them. We've already made ressies for this June and F&W in Oct and do look forward to many years of doing this with them. We've never actually stayed in the room with them before so that'll be a change and since it's their points, I suppose I'll have to let them have the nice bedroom even though we're getting there first and could easily take it over .

Usually we stay in the same resort so we can do somethings seperate if needed but it's still easy to meet for the together stuff, ought to be a fun experience, and we have an 18 month old, they may kick US out .
