I purchased a product called Nalsoft AIM logger (google it). You can try it free, but then it's only $15 to purchase it and so worth it!

Downloaded this earlier today and just checked the logs and it's awesome! I'll purchase it in 2 weeks when my free trial ends, I love it! Much better than google desktop search(which I'm about to uninstall)

if it is yahoo instant messenger, you click on their contact list, and click on contacts, then message archive. They should all be there. I take a peek on my son's conversations now and then.
