checked luggage question

It has been a long time since I last flew and I don't remember what I've done in the past. Can you pack a can of shaving cream and a can of the spray deoderant in your checked luggage? The cans won't explode or leak or anything will they?

they can go in checked luggage, i'd put them in a plastic bag to be on the safe side!

thanks. I felt silly asking but I didn't know if being that high in the air would effect the cans in anyway.

IMO it would be more of something getting thrown on your bag or just in the right spot and knocked / broke the cap off and somehow the valve getting pushed.. Releasing all the goodness inside your luggage More then likely wont happen, but that would be more of a concern then it 'exploding' at altitude

That is something else I worried about. Same worry with my shampoo, contact solution, and other liquid necessities. I figured I would double bag them in a ziplocks. How do people pack their toilitries for the plane nowadays?

I put my toiletries in zip lock bags and then into a plastic or cardboard shoe box.

That way they have less chance of getting mushed. (We use soft sided luggage)

I done the zip lock bags with a "bubble-wrap" manila envelope.

It is also good to take travel size stuff with you that you can throw away as you use it up. Whenever I am in a drug store, I always check their travel size items. Or I take something that is almost used up and I know it will last me the week.
