Check Your Unclaimed Property!

My father is listed but I won't be the one that receives it. At least I passed the information on to my step monster. No money for me.

A big thank you to the OP! I just checked my DH's name and it popped up with three claims totaling almost $1000 from a past college. I hadn't checked in years. They tried to mail it to an old address. Can't say enough thank yous!!! :thumbsup2

thanks for this. I found one for myself from my old student loan company. they sold my loans years ago. it just says greater than $100 so I will see how much I get. I haven't lived at the address listed in 5 years, but I had old tax documents hat were mailed there in my files!

My husband came up, but it was for a bank that we still have accounts with. Strange.

Exactly the same here! Wonder why...but put in the claim anyway, it doesn't say how much but I think it's just $100 or less.

I found my DH name but the address is not even a valid address here around Buffalo. He has a family name that is not very poplular so usually it is a relation. The weird thing is it is his full first name, Middle Initial and Last name.

He will not check as he says it is a scam.

Thoughts please:confused:.

Not a scam at all. We're also in NY and it's from the official NYS Comptroller's office. They sent us $38 a couple of years ago, my SIL checks with them regularly and has gotten $400 over the years.
This fact sheet might reassure him.

Your credit report would probably show your old address. Also a driving record from DMV in your state should list the driver's license address.

Well my two forms came today....

My husband's claim amounts to $10.30. Putting it off to the side and will probably send it back in - just have to dig up something with him at that address from way back in 1975!

My mom's was a bit more $21.51 but she died about 12 years ago. It will be more of a hassle paperwork wise to collect her money. The irritating thing with her claim though is it is from a local bank where her brother was the President and her dad was on the Board of Directors so its not like she was unknown to them.

The address is unknown to us under my DH name. So there would be no way to claim the monies as it looks like you have to provide proof of the address before you can collect.:confused3

WOW! Money for my dad, me and DH. My dad's was about $50, but it says "unknown" for DH and I in the amounts. The email I received says to give them a fews to get in touch with us. How fun!
PS:
I told DH that any money we get goes to our Disney fund and he agreed!:cool1:

i felt like i had checked this, but because of the op i checked again. my forms came today, one for 557, a western union money order and another 50 from verizon!! thank you soo much, it is at a time that i couldnt have been more grateful!

Just wanted to say thanks for posting this! I just found some money in DH's name. It is over $100 -we are sending in the claim forms today so I guess we have to wait a few weeks to see how much it is exactly (but whatever it is - it's ALL going to the Disney fund!!!). It's like knowing you won the lottery but just not knowing how much :cool1: I hope more people are able to find some cash on here - great site!!!

Thanks for the reminder OP!! Just found $112 for dh and "over $100" for my mom. Missingmoney.com did not show dh's money but I found it under our states treasury website. :)

UPDATE: Dad called today and the state finally got back to him. The total of the 3 claims is over $9200!!!!!:cool1:Old stock from Mom's past employer. Must have gotten the original paperwork confused with the stock pension plan she was in and didn't realize it was a separate account. Thank you OP, he really needed it. Funny how Mom is still taking care of him.

(oh and now he will be able to join us on our August trip)

Just found my deceased Mom's name. Called dad and he is trying to work through the forms, but it isn't clear on what they want, all her info, hers and some of his, or his with her SSN. He is going to try and email the state to ask. You would think this would be common and they would make it easy, but it is the government, and if it is hard enough you might give up. It does not show how the money got there, or how much it is, so I hope it is worth it.

I found my name, apparently there is some kind of trust that my grandparents set up when I was born. The problem is I have no documentation that I lived at that old address in PA, since we moved when I was 3 years old. I emailed the PA Dept. of Vital statistics about some kind of record.(I stated that I believed it was called "a record of live birth") that detailed your parents full name and address at the time of birth and the reply I got (very professional mind you) was this: "birth certificates don't have adresses." That's it, just those five words, incorrect spelling and all!!! I know that there is a form I can get from the state, my sister got one 6-7 years ago, (for her same unclaimed trust/endowment fund) but can't recall how/where... :confused3
