Check Your Unclaimed Property!

I checked a year or two ago and found one for around $100. So I was really surprised to find 3 more. It only says under $300, so no idea how much each will be, but still a pleasant surprise!!!
Thanks for the reminder!!

Thanks for the reminder!

I found my name (not overly clear what the account is) for between $25 and $100. The bizarre thing is that the address is where we still live?

Wierder though, I found an account for DH's aunt-- that has to be at least 45 years old. It's in her maiden name (and parents' address) - she's been married at least that long.

Thanks so much! I found at least 1 and I'm going to search the rest of the family as well! I'm looking at less then $50 but it's going right into the Disney fund!

Well, I got an email from the New Mexico State Treasury Dept and mine is for $200! With a baby due in 10 weeks, I could totally use that $200! I wish I could put it in a Disney fund... Excited about it though!

My DH and I are never listed, but I just found some money for my sister. It says less than $100 for premiums on an insurance policy. I texted her and asked if I found her some money, do I get half? LOL She was very confused by that text. She was happy when she found out and is now in the claims process.

Thanks for the reminder.

A huge $6.84 for me - I know the source, I was too lazy to jump through the hoops required to claim it before. It'll actually be easier to claim it from the state now.

I also found over $400 for my sister - now if she'll just agree that I deserve a 90% finders fee

I found something for DH. It says its between $1 and $50. Its associated with an old address from years ago. I can easily copy the ID and SS card but they want something showing us at the old address as well and I seriously doubt I have anything but I'll have to look through some old papers.

Do you have your old tax returns or any old love letters/cards from loved ones with a cancelled stamp? Anything in a scrapbook?

I'm glad to know that a bunch of us found money:cheer2: A little more money for Disney! :woohoo:

Hmmm. . .I didn't check my BFFs who live in other states. . .I'm off to see if I can find them some nice surprises!

Congrats on the new baby and the unexpected money!

Thanks for the reminder OP! I've checked for myself and immediate family a few times before but I have forgotten to in the past year or so. This time I looked up extended family and good friends too (yeah for insomnia) and had a high number of hits (10+) - so I'll thank you on behalf of them. :thumbsup2

I have a similar problem. They have me down for "over $50" from a health insurance provider that I think I used a long time ago. But there's no way I can provide anything from them with my name on it.

Thanks! I have checked repeatedly in the past and found nothing, but today I am $10-$100 richer.

I just have to wait 10-12 weeks to get my money. Hopefully once it is claimed, I will be able to see the real amount online.

I check this every time someone posts about it and this is the first time there has been money for us! It's my husband actually from when he was married to someone else ... and its old money because we have been married almost 30 years! It's between 10-100. So I guess we will see.

Also money in that range for my mom who died in 2001 so I put in for that too.

Liz

I got over 250 back this year. My mother opened a savings account for me back when I was like 10 and she forgot about it! :D

I have two things on there. How do I show I lived at that address? It was years ago when I lived at home and I have had 2 addresses since then.

I found my DH name but the address is not even a valid address here around Buffalo. He has a family name that is not very poplular so usually it is a relation. The weird thing is it is his full first name, Middle Initial and Last name.

He will not check as he says it is a scam.

Thoughts please:confused:.

If it's on the state government website, it's definitey not a scam - your state government has that money sitting in a bank account. What happens is that when a company has monies that are owed to an individual, but the individual does not claim them and/or the company does not have a current address for the individual, after X number of years those monies are sent to the state. The state posts the funds on public websites. When someone sends in proof that they are the individual to whom the funds are owed or the heir of that individual, the funds are sent from the state to the individual.

As for the address - addresses do change. When E-911 was instituted I think about 60% of the addresses in my parish (county outside of Louisiana) changed! Addresses change for other reasons as well, so it's entirely possible that while today that is an invalid address, when the monies were generated it was a valid address. It's also possible that somehow or other a bad address was recorded for your DH at that time. Some of these funds come from data entry days when clerks just typed in addresses and there was no way to check that the addresses existed.

Awesome. $15 for me and $15 for my brother. Hadn't checked it in about 7 years (found something for DH back then), but the claim for me was from 12 years ago ... weird.
