Check your Delta ressies!!!!

What is the 10 minute change rule? I have never heard of this? Can someone explain it to me? It sounds very interesting!

I've never heard of a 10 minute or 20 minute change rule -- it could be something specific to Pooh's Pal's company. The only applicable rule I can find is the rule that states that you can get a full refund of your purchase price if your departure is moved to more than two hours earlier, or if your arrival is moved to more than two hours later. (Some airlines are four hours -- Delta is two hours.)

Of course, a refund a few weeks before your flight might not be the best option. Generally, airlines will try to offer you something else, depending on their availability, but according to the rules, all they have to offer you is that refund.

I thought perhaps there was a rule about moving your flight 20 minutes one way or the other and I was going to laugh....our flights have been changed and changed and changed. our last flight was leaving hours before they were scheduled but it was not one big move...it was 3 changes...I think they did it that way to save themselves. Oh well,

We had almost no choice in using Delta to fly to Asheville in a few weeks. We've accumulated quite a few FF miles over the last couple of years and I'm afraid we'll lose them if Delta does goes under so we hurridely booked an exploratory retirement trip.

I just hate the fact though that almost every Delta trip is no longer non-stop. We used to love Delta so much and used them to fly out to Hawaii in 2004 without even changing planes except in LA!

I really prefer SWA but DH hates their cattle call loading so unless I'm flying without him it's a legacy carrier!

This may be our last Delta trip!

We WERE flying Delta in November. I cancelled them on the 6th change and booked with SW. I was tired of babysitting the flight schedule.

For those of you who can't assign your seats online, I asked Delta about this during one of my changes. They said you actually have seats, they just show them as unassigned so the customer knows there has been a schedule change. If the customer calls, they confirm the seats. Whatever isn't confirmed closer to the actual departure date, they are supposed to call the customer to confirm (that obviously doesn't always happen). I think it would be more customer friendly to send a quick auto-email.

And as far as the time rule - it's the 90 minute rule with Delta. If your flight changes 90 minutes or more one way or another, you can change your schedule up to 48 hours before or after your original flight (I was actually able to have a Delta rep change mine by 2 weeks the first schedule change). The other option is you can cancel for a full refund.

I so miss Song....I wish Delta would have kept Song and dumped Delta.

Actually, Delta's rule is
Rule 270 B 1 said:
Delta will not refund any portion of a fare that is nonrefundable, and Delta will not refund any taxes, fees or
charges collected upon nonrefundable tickets.
http://images.delta.com.edgesuite.net/delta/pdfs/contract_of_carriage_dom.pdf

They must provide amenities (food, hotel if overnight, etc.) if your delay is more than four hours.

Anything else is a courtesy they're extending to the passenger, they're under no obligation to provide.

The biggest problem with Delta is when they change the flight time by even a minute. You need to call to get your seats back. I notice a 5 minutes change this week for my flight on Jan 1, called and it took 30 minutes to get the seats back, after you get the regular person they tell you that you need to speak to the rebooking department. What re booking ??? same flight and same flight number, same equipment, so here we go again another 10 minutes on hold.

As posted American tells you the time changed, end of process.

Oh well I got a seat on New Years day MCO/LGA for 79.00 :cool1: :cool1:

This is my biggest gripe about Delta. Yes, they sometimes have attractive fares, but the blood pressure medicine required may balance the higher fare on another airline.

As for the re-booking process, after you've done the speak-to-India routine and received your seats and they switch you to rebooking, rebooking says: No, you did not need to speak to us; I don't know why they connected you to me.

I prefer Alaskan Air, where schedules set many months in advance simply don't change. Too bad they don't fly everywhere. We use them whenever we can.

Ok we are all set....for this week anyway until they make new changes!!! Keep your fingers crossed.

I just checked mine online and it was changed again also. On the way home We leave about the same time but we get into salt lake city at 8:30 and we leave from salt lake at 7:30. Huh think someone messed up our flight times huh. I guesse sence they changed our flights by 2 hours maybe we will get a nice rep and they will refund my money or send us down a day sooner. PPPPPPPPPPlease. I could only hope. Mum Better get on the phone.

It seems that it is getting worse with Delta. We have flown Delta many times and never had a schedule change. We booked three trips this year using Delta, one of them being our Disney trip and each time our schedule has been changed. The last Delta flight we took about 3 months ago was changed 4 times all the way up to two days before we leave.

I think the limo company we used got tired of us calling to give them new flight numbers. On our return flight our schedule was changed. Good thing we checked in the night before and was able to call and make new arrangments with our transportation to the airport.

I guess like it is said you get what you pay for. Most of the time we search for flights Delta is the cheapest in our area. I can deal with some of the schedule changes. What I can't deal with is having my family scattered all over the plane. It really bites to see the four of us sitting together the night before we leave only to find out when we get to the airport we are all over the plane.

Ok, we leave for Disney in about 4 weeks. Our schedule has been changed 2 times within the past 2 week. Wish us luck. :thumbsup2

Delta was at its worst with regard to schedule changes in the Spring of 2006.

Just checked ours and so far we are okay. However last weeks change showed up on Sunday.

Ok, how can I set my seat assignments? I have my itinerary confirmation nujmber and when I log in, I see no way to even get seats assigned!

Itineraries/Check-in, put in name and con# and hit go.
Scroll to almost bottom of page. Click 'Choose Your Seats' on right side of page.

A question for Bicker - you seem to be the guru of flight - do you think that Delta's flights are more apt to change at the larger airports?

I'm the guru, perhaps, of legacy airline flight scheduling and airline Contracts of Carriage -- that's the extent of my expertise regarding airlines. Regarding your question, I don't believe there is any greater tendency for flights to stay the same versus change based on the airport size.

Ugh, i just check our ressies also, and they changed our flight back home! We are now coming home 3 hours earlier, what a rip!! We can still get half a day in the parks, but I just don't know why they think they can change flight times like this! People plan their schedules around flights, get a clue Delta!!

No flight changes this week - less than 5 weeks to go so hopefully we wont see anymore, but I wont hold my breath!

I had been checking weekly and this thread last night reminded me it was time to do so again. I booked for our Dec trip back in Feb and they have moved at least 5/6 times. Once again last night our flight out changed by 1 MINUTE so I had lost my seats. Come on, one minute and my seats are gone? Such a pain. So I called and they had me on their end in row 23 (5 of us). We used to have row 14. I asked to be closer and they could get us all in row 15. On the way home we had been in row 14 too, now we are in row 21. I am happy we are all still together (3 kids who have never been on a plane and DH and I) but I don't understand how a 1 minute shift in time can mean losing your seat assignments?
