Check your Delta ressies!!!!

GRRRRR!!! I just checked ours and low and behold they've cancelled our flight and put us on another flight. It is still a direct flight but now at 9:15 instead of 7:45 like we wanted. Oh well... but now we don't have seat assignments. I'm not going to call right now though. I'll just wait a few weeks then call, just in case they change again.

They intially had four direct morning flights to MCO and now its down to 2. Our original flight was pretty much sold out. Not sure how they are going to accommodate everybody. The new flight looks like it has 2 available seats in coach. First class looks wide open though. :confused3 Maybe they'll put somebody from coach in first class?

My sister and BIL were NOT notified of the schedule change of their non-stop Delta flight from Birmingham to MCO on Oct 12th, and unfortunately they didn't check their itinerary online. Luckily for them...they arrived at the airport at 6:30 a.m. for what they thought would be an 8 a.m. flight, and it had been changed to a 7 a.m. flight!

I just checked MY Delta flights for my Thanksgiving trip, and once again a flight number changed, thus eliminating my seat assignments for both flights on the way home from MCO! At least American doesn't do away with your seat assignment when they change flight times or flight numbers.

One of the best airlines for notifying passengers is JetBlue. They send out emails and make automated telephone calls. And they've done it for every single schedule change we've had with them, within days of the change taking place. That's one of the advantages of using an airline born after the Internet got big. :)

One of our flights is booked solid. My 3 year old is sitting alone and so is my handicapped son. I know they will fix this at the airport but is crazy!!!
Chances are, your flight isn't booked solid; all the preassignable seats on your flight are currently reserved (little comfort, I know) but as bicker has tried to explain in previous posts - only a certain number or percent of seats on any flight can be assigned in advance. The rest, for a variety of reasons, have to be assigned at the airport.

It was a joke between a very nice rep who fixed everything for me.She is the one that started it, saying that you definately want your youngsters sitting with you.I understand they didnt make the assignments. I didnt threaten her or make sarcastic remarks and wasnt rude or upset, I knew they would fix itSorry, it was a pleasant conversation and I thought I would share. :confused3
My apologies, KATIESMOM - while yes, I was quoting your post and responding to it, my larger intention was to have "just my opinion" out there permanently and for everyone with Delta (or other airline) issues to note.

I can't vouch for what bicker says, because (knock wood) JetBlue has NEVER changed a flight of mine! I do know, though, that their written policy states that neither the exit row NOR the first row/bulkhead seats can be assigned in advance.

Ok, how can I set my seat assignments? I have my itinerary confirmation nujmber and when I log in, I see no way to even get seats assigned!

If you're flying Delta.....on the home page go to Itineraries and Check In. Then scroll about half way down and click "Choose your seats".

That doesn't work for the flights where Delta dropped my seats! I can CHANGE the seats I've been assigned, but no way to get seats on my 2 flights that now have "unassigned seats" - since Delta changed flight times by 2 minutes! Needless to say, since Delta pulled out of my home airport, and they have a bad habit of changing flight times AND dropping seat assignments, I won't feel too badly about not flying them in the future.

Call the 1-800-221-1212 and they can put assignments back in. I have had to do it multiple times now.
This morning when I called they originally said my assignments were still there, I just couldn't see them on my computer, so she would put them back. Once I got off the phone I checked and they were there, but they had us all sitting all over the plane. I don't think my 5 year old is ready to fly with out us. So I had to call back, and of course the flight was booked. They suggested I asked other passengers at the airport to switch seats so we could sit together. I let them know that the reason I booked a flight in June was so I would not have to ask other passengers at the airport to change seats so my family could sit together. So find me a flight were we can sit together. I was not at all mean, but firm. I ended up with a flight that is a better time for us anyway!

Lets see if they change it again before we leave!

We bought our tickets back in December (we fly out this Saturday) and there have been numerous changes to our flights. You name it, it's changed. I've checked my flights online almost every day since December! Every time there was a change I'd call and get our seat assignments back. The biggest change was our layover in ATL went from 2 hours to 4 hours (flight home).

All this talk has gotten me quite paranoid. I'm at work and I don't have any of the flight information with me. Luckily I called Delta and found out that while my flight had in fact changed, it was moved back by 15 minutes to a slightly larger plane. We were also able to get all our seats together so, in my case, everything worked out wonderfully. :yay:

I've called them multiple times - and it gets tiresome! As I said, American makes changes to their flights, too, but I don't lose my seat every time something changes with them.

My son's December flight has changed twice since I booked it. It was originally at 6:15 pm. Changed to 4:something pm, now it's at 3:45 pm. If it moves any earlier, I'll have to look into changing him to a flight that leaves later with a connection.

He has a final exam that morning that doesn't end till noon, then a 60 minute drive from school to the airport. He's got plenty of time, but geez, I hope they don't cut it any closer.

It's also a SkySaver flight, so I hope they don't give me too much hassle if it does move earlier.

Our flight has now changed four times (two major changes and two minor changes). We have 32 days to go - does Delta continue to change up until the time of the flight?

Generally, they make very few changes after four or five months prior to the flight.

They made all of our changes within the last two months, so hopefully they will be finished. I hate the constant worry and need to check.

Our flight is in less than two months and all of our changes have been made in the past three weeks! Granted most of our changes have been less than 1/2 hour and for equipment/flight numbers - but every change they made lost our seat assignments and I had to call to find our what the new ones were.

IME with Delta, they keep making changes right up until the flight takes off - this is why I usually don't fly with them. But this trip they were the only airline at the time that had the flights I wanted and at a decent price. Regardless of their schedule/pricing for our next trip, I won't be using them again.

My flight for November has changed four times since August. Now they have started changing around our December flight. I foolishly have three trips booked with Delta into next March.

After more than 16 years of using them, I think I'm done. I would rather pay more for Jet Blue and have some peace of mind.

This thread freaked me out so much that I cancelled my Delta flights (was within the 24 hr since booking) and found the BOS-MCO leg of our trip for the same price at Jetblue.
Now I plan on watching to see what I can get from TPA-BOS for the return. Crossing my fingers that Southwest comes through for me even if it means coming into NH or RI.
I love these boards!!!!! :Pinkbounc

My Delta flights have changed 4 times since we booked the trip last April! Originally booked at 7:25am leaving Boston non-stop to Orlando....then it went to 7:35am...then to 8:35am....now I see Sunday night that they have canceled the non-stop in the am and put us on a 9am flight with a stopover in Atlanta and not arriving till 2:30pm! I am not happy, as we are only there for 4nts!

But this was a "free" trip from a prize we won at work...so yesterday I had to call the TA involved (who is good for nothing by the way, but that's a whole different story!) and asked her to pull us off of Delta and rebook us on Jet Blue..she says "Okay, I'll see what I can do" (after I notify her of the 20 min change rule!) She never calls me back all day and around 4pm I call her back and she says she has to wait to get authorization from my HR department to cancel and rebook with Jet Blue...says she has to see if my company will wait for the refund from Delta!

Wouldn't she automatically get refunded from Delta or does it take weeks for the refund to come through?

I'll tell ya.....if it wasn't a free trip...I'd just :faint: from all the stress!!
Never again Delta...can you hear me!!! Jet Blue from now on & forever!!
