Wow, that's an excellent thread on the Debate Board! And Darren, your replies were AWESOME! Thank you for jumping right in and providing the Canadian viewpoint. There were others too (like faithinkarma) who were so good too at arguing the points and picking out the weak spots!
Kudos to toto2 for bringing up the subject; I found it very interesting to see the various definitions re liberalism vs conservatism. And the economics discussions brought back bad memories from my university days at U of T!
It's funny how some of these threads unravel on the debate board. I remember a few months ago where they were talking about the USA absorbing Canada; I thought for sure that that one would be spitting flames, but it evolved into a very humourous thread about Canadian liquor and jokes (Darren, you had a leading role in that one too if I remember correctly). I remember thinking I had to applaud the posters for not allowing the debate to get too fiery but diverting the emotion into a very humourous vein.
