Hi we are driving in for only a one day trip to Disney, and will be visiting a park all day upon arrival, then staying at a Disney property that night. I'm concerned about losing too much park time to get back and forth from hotel to check in since check in time is listed at 3pm. Is there a way to check in early or remotely so that we could still be in the park and not come back to the hotel until we are finished? Thanks for any advice.

Isn't there online checkin? Get your room number via text and Magic Band gets you into room.

There is online check in at all resorts, but you have always been required to physically check in as well. I know they were (are?) testing a version at some resorts where physically checking in is no longer required, but I'm not sure about the details. If the op's resort is participating, I'm sure Disney will send them that information. I don't want to give information that I'm unsure about.

I am absolutely sure that you can physically check in as early as 6:00 at all resorts.

You can check in as early as 6am, as you've already been told. Many of the resorts are doing the online checkin where you are texted/emailed your room number. I would just do online checkin and then drive to the resort....as long as it's early in the morning. If you get that text/email, then I would just go directly to the park, and head to the resort whenever you feel like.
No text or email, then just go directly to the resort.

The online check-in is out of testing and is now available at all Disney resorts except Fort Wilderness. When using the advance online check-in, there is no longer a need to visit the front desk at all. :-)

Good to know.

Does anyone have any experience with going in with a balance on your room? If you do online checkin, and put a cc in it, will the resort automatically put the balance of the room against that cc? Or, will they have you pay it when you get there? Just curious. If you have a balance due, it kind of makes the whole online checkin a moot point.

Any outstanding balance will be charged to the CC you provide when doing online check-in. This includes both outstanding room charges and anything charged to your room/magicband while in the park.

That would make sense. Thanks. Someone asked me and I wasn't sure. I have that issue next month, but since we're staying at POR in a royal room, I have no issue stopping at the counter to pay the balance due....looks like it will be taken care of anyway.

I got a text that told me what my room number was last month before I landed at Orlando. I went directly to my room and never went to the front desk.
