Check in time at BWV

I have read many posters say that when they checked in at the BWV they were told that their rooms would be ready in about a half hour. Later, some of these same folks, whose room was still not ready, were told that check in is at 4:30. We last stayed at the BWV two years ago. We checked in around 2 and were told that our room would be ready in thirty minutes. At 4, our room was not ready and at that time upon checking, I was told by a CM that check in is 4:30. Member services has told me that the rooms are supposed to be ready at 4. It seems as if the BWV front desk are still telling folks just what they told us two years ago. I do not mind waiting until 4 PM, but after that I am not happy. What's the deal on this, MS saying one thing and front desk saying another. I will tell you that at 4:30, I found a wonderful new CM and he checked to see what the hold up was. He found out that our studio was ready, but the 1 bedroom was not. He apologized and gave us the key to the studio and the 1 bedroom which was connected. Upon entering, I saw why the 1 bedroom was not ready. A maid and maintenenace man were sitting on the couch in the 1 bedroom talking and watching TV!
So when is check in?

Those CMs behavior was very innappropriate! I hope you had said something to someone about that!

Despite what everyone's been saying, check-in indeed begins at 4:00pm for the villas.

I did report this to the front desk manager. I do not like getting anyone into trouble, but if you are waiting for your room, you like to think that they are working on getting these rooms ready. I understand that staff are entitled to their breaks, but this did not look good.

Next time bring your reservation letter that comes from DVC. It clearly states that check in is at 4:00 P.M. If anyone tells you otherwise, show him/her the letter.

I read on these boards that the confirmation letter says check in after 4. So with BWV telling me that check in was 4:30 or later, is that what really is meant by having the letter state check in is after 4? What do you think the acceptable wait time after 4 should be?

I'm not sure I can say what acceptable is. It all depends on the situation. We have arrived as early as 9:30 A.M. and have had a room ready for us. On the other hand, we have arrived at 2:00 P.M. and have not gotten into my room until after 5:00 P.M. one time. We always make back up plans so that if our room isn't ready we go off and do other things. With the phone number they give, we will call every once in a while to check to see if the room is ready. When it's not, we just do other stuff.

I recently posted about not getting into my room at BWV until 5 PM, and I was told that check-in was "after 4 PM". I was also told by the front desk that my DVC contract said 4:30 PM. I have not taken the time to check my contract, but I did check my confirmation for my trip 2 weeks ago, and for my upcoming December trip, and both state check-in time is 4 PM; not "after 4 PM" and not 4:30 PM, so the front desk at BWV is misinformed.

Sometimes the rooms are actually ready, but the Front Desk doesn't know about it. Apparently, housekeeping doesn't update the computer after each room, but waits and does several all at once.

We were quite anxious to get into our room on a previous visit becasus we wanted to get going to MVMCP. I called several times and finally the CM took pity on us - said only one side of our 2 bedroom was ready, but she would give us the keys and please not use the 1 bedroom side until after it was fully cleaned. All we wanted to do was dump our luggage and have keys so we could go right to the room after the party, so no problem, there! As it turned out, the 1 bedroom side was perfectly clean and ready. We just figured the computer hadn't been updated yet.

We just returned from the BWV 2 days ago, in a 2 bedroom. We checked in at 12:30 and were told the room was almost ready it would be 30 minutes. We were surprised. Then they said it would be ready at 3:00 because the maids on the 3rd floor are required to be finished that floor at 3:00. We did not get into the room until after 4:00pm. They said by contract the room does not have to be ready until 4:30. I have never read that. A lot of angry people were in the lobby who were told the same thing. We went to Beaches and Cream and ate then swam until it was ready. Have a back up plan.

I just got off the phone with Mark from MS. He said that the BWV and all of the villas have a check in time of 4PM. He said that we should expect our rooms to be ready at 4. When I told him that folks are being told that their rooms will be ready in 30 minutes and upon checking back this is not the case, but their rooms are not ready until 4 or even 5, he said that was not acceptable. He said that if BWV are telling people that by contract rooms do not have to be ready until after 4:30, then MS needs to know this. He said that he used to work the front desk at BWV and was very suprised at what I was saying. He said that he was going to call them as soon as we got off the phone. He said that if what he was telling me is incorrect, he would call me back.

We have experienced this same thing... A few times we have been very pleasantly suprised with the room being ready before 10:00am... Other times, it wasn't ready until 4:30pm or so...

Normally though, we have something else in the works so that we are not counting on the room... We'll get the number for housekeeping from the front desk, and then periodically call them from our cell phone and check with them to see when the room is ready.. Meanwhile, we'll swim at Luna Park, get lunch at Spoodles, go shopping, etc...

Calling them from the cell phone seems to be the best approach.. We don't have to stop whatever we are doing to go back to the lobby and stand in line at the front desk... Plus by calling housekeeping once or twice and asking on the status of the room, I have gotten the impression that the room is ready faster.. (Whoever is answering the phone at housekeeping, is notifying the housekeepers that someone is waiting to get into that room.)

Disney, and IMHO, BWV is really wrestling with this problem of meeting the 4:00 PM check-in time...

Two weeks ago week, we stayed at SSR Thu-Sat, and had to move to BWV for our last nite. Did MK in the AM, then I headed back to BWV to see if the room was ready.

Not until 3:45, and I was not alone; the lobby and front porch were fairly packed with folks waiting for their rooms.

I agree here that the checkin time is "after 4:00 PM" (as printed on the card they give you with the number to call), but here is the interesting part......

Right after I got in the room, a housekeeping supervisor showed up to ensure that the leaking kitchen faucet was fixed (it wasn't yet) but she made a call to maintenance to make sure they had it logged.

She and I started talking and I told her it appeared that they were quite busy given the number of people waiting for rooms right up until 4:00. She said no, they had about 100 "check-outs" on Sunday, which was about normal, but about 200 "check-ins" which was high. She also said they had a very busy Friday, with about 300 "check-outs"

I didn't think much about it at the moment, but then started wondering, if they only had 100 rooms being vacated, and theoretically 100 rooms to clean, why the problem accomodating the higher volume of arriving guests?

She had already left when I thought through this, but I am wondering (and would have asked her) if they only clean the number of rooms that they need for arriving guests and leave the rest dirty until they need them.
