For those who picked DL, how do you get to and from the airport to DL and who pays for the transport to DL? I know that DL doesn't have the Magical Express buses so I was wondering about that.

If I won I was thinking about DL in Dec.

Apparently there ARE busses/shuttles that run from the area hotels/DLH to the airport but they aren't normally free. They will be free to us though :)

Yes, they sent us info on the Disneyland Resort Express, where to pick it up, where it drops us off, how long it takes, etc. What they didn't tell us is how it's going to get paid for. Maybe they'll send us vouchers. Does anyone know?

Our package has us on the Disneyland Resort Express. It's a big, tour-bus looking thing.

My understanding is that it will be vouchers. Something about the exchange of the Walt Disney Prepaid Travel vouchers being exchanged at the Disneyland Hotel (which is their first stop). Then the bus will continue on to the other Resort hotels and/or some passengers will transfer to a smaller shuttle.

I'm getting this information under the "Arrival at the Disneyland Resort" section of our itinerary.

I wasn't sure if the Disney Travel arrival voucher was for the shuttle or the hotel. It's not the clearest, which is funny since the rest of the letter explains everything in such detail. :)

It is kind of vague, isn't it?
I'm just assuming that they are for the shuttle and we'll give the confirmation code (on the Disneyland Resort Hotel Information page) to the front desk at the hotel.

Woo hoo! Congrats!!! :yay:

They gave us a great quote for the DLH as well (35% off), but it's still too expensive for us...over $300/night in the middle of summer. If we could pay with the GC then we'd do it, but they told me I'd have to pay with my credit card when I booked the reservation. Too bad. :sad1:

Can you pay with a credit card now, then have them reverse the charge to pay with a gift card when you are there?

Not if, when you win. You must think positively!

Yeah, what I'm wondering is, are they suggesting we leave DL 4 hours before our return flight in order for the DRE to get us back in time, or are they saying leave 2 hours before, so you are at the airport 1 1/2 hrs before the flight?

Is anyone watching My House Goes Disney on HGTV? Their house is going to be awesome!:wizard:

I haven't checked this thread in several days and I am so excited for all the people that have won trips! Here hoping we have several more winners in the next 5 days!

I won and picked DL and we actually just got our flights, hotel, etc. confirmed yesterday. We are flying into LAX Disney has an express bus that goes from LAX to the DL hotels. They pay for the transportation, obviously, since it is them that's doing the transporting.

We thought about asking if we could have the charge reversed, but we'd rather save the money and use it for our next Disney trip. We'll just stay at another hotel off property for a night for 1/3 of the price. :)

I think they're suggesting that you get on the bus no less than 3 hours before your flight leaves. Since it can take so long, you could always get stuck in traffic and it would be awful to miss your flight because of it. This way you have plenty of leeway.

What do you DL trip takers think of starting a thread over in the DL section of the forum for trip planning? We can post the dates we are going and where we are staying. Maybe some DISers will offer up some good suggestions of things we will only see the specific time of year we are going, and other must see things. I've been to DL a lot of times, but I know this will be a first trip for a lot of you. I love Disneyland, but there are some people who know everything. I know on MM you run for Peter Pan's Flight, but these people can tell you the route to take, what CM will be standing next to the Carousel, and which stand has the best churros.

BTW- my bestie texted me today and said she had a churro and thought of me. I texted her back and asked if she was at Disneyland or Costco.

I was wondering the same thing. Everything in the confirmation is so clear except for what you just mentioned.

I think that's a great idea to start a thread over there. We've never been to DL and I'm so excited. Because of this stupid class I'm taking I can't spend the hours I want planning right now, until I'm finished. I'm glad the dining reservations aren't like WDW or else I'd have to spend several hours trying to figure out where we want to eat and when. :)

Debby, what did your friends say when you told them you won the contest?

Yes, I think that would be a great idea! I was actually trrying to come up with an idea for a private site that we could use to post pics from our trips... yes?No?

That's a good idea as well. We should maybe have somewhere that we can communicate without absolutely everyone seeing it. :)

We replied to let them know that all looked good so now we just wait to hear back from them. :) At this point, I guess I'm in no rush since our travel dates are still 9 months away.

We almost caved and told the kids last night. We just have to keep telling ourselves that if we tell them, we can't un-tell them and not only will the opportunity to surprise them with a trip to Disneyland be gone, but then I'll have to listen to them for the next 9 months! "Mom, how much longer? Mom, is it really close now? Mom, how many more days? Mom, can we count how many more sleeps that is? Mom, can we see the hotel again? Mom, should we start packing some stuff now?" And on and on and on and on.... And that's just a sample of what the first 15 minutes after we told them would be like! :headache:

So until then, I'll have to figure out ways to occupy my time and get this trip out of my head. It seems like I've done nothing but plan and think about it since we got the email telling us that we won!

Oy. I need a hobby!

Ha! My 8 year old son is the same way. We have had to watch the DL planning video every day over and over just so he can see the rides over and over again. We go to WDW a lot since we live so close, but have never been to DL so he is going crazy!
