I entered the contest online only, and was the only one in my house entering. I started entering the day I got an email from Disney online, and I flagged the email so it was at the top of my inbox. I entered various times of the day, but got to the point where I was entering in the morning before taking my daughter to school. Last Friday, Jan 18, I was getting my daughter ready for school, and then taking my 3 year old to Disney on Ice, and I got the email from Ventura Assoc to verify my address. At first I thought maybe I'd won a keychain or antenna ball. I didn't want to email my address back, so I told her I thought it should be right, since I'd just gotten something from Disney Movie Rewards. She wrote me back and told me my address, which I told her was correct. I then wrote back and forth with her most of the day asking questions which she answered. Meanwhile, back at Disney on Ice, my MIL thought it was all a scam (because the original Ventura email had a grammatical error- not like the Nigerian banking scam errors, but one grammatical error). So, after Disney on Ice, I read the rules again. The first time I read them was just to find out how often I could enter. I noticed in the rules that Ventura was the administrator. I pointed that out to my MIL, who finally started believing that perhaps it was true. At that point I called my husband and told him.

I got the affidavit on Tuesday, it was left on my doorstep, but I'd already found out they didn't send it siggy required, so I wasn't stressed. I read thru it, filled it out- don't know that I've ever been so nervous filling out paperwork, but I didn't want to screw it up and blow the trip- and took it to the UPS store for notary the next day. The nice guy at the UPS store told me I could send a FedEx package (which Ventura sent in a reusable FedEx envelope) from there. I told him I'd be watching the tracking number, and if it didn't go out that day, I would find him and hurt him. I also told him if he got it to NY in time I would bring him something back from Disneyland. Ventura got the FedEx on Friday. I sent an email to my contact that it had arrived in her building, and asked what the next step was, and 2 hours later I had an email from her confirming that I was a grand prize winner. I think I am now in the same waiting place as Sue and watkinsme.

I can't believe how many of my family members that I told thought it was a scam. I have had to tell them all several times that I would think it was a scam too if I hadn't been entering this thing EVERY SINGLE DAY for 2 weeks!

Hubby and I talked about taking the WDW option, but we'd already been planning a trip to DL with another family, and I had two major reasons against WDW: I didn't think my 3 year old (even turning 4 in May) would be old enough to appreciate it, and why not go on the trip to DL that we planned, but let Disney pay for it. So, we are doing DL and hoping that our friends don't mind paying more to stay at the Grand Californian with us (if that's an option).

I read the first 71 pages of this thread, and saw past winners say that they could add extra days at a discount, or extra family members at a discount. Do you think they would help us get our friends travel package set up too? Would the price be as good as it is when you book thru Costco Travel (we love the free character meal)?

Thanks for all the congrats messages. I was pretty excited 15 years ago when I won a year's worth of Dr. Pepper, but this is waaay better.

Thanks so much for sharing your story so far!! Unfortunately, I can't answer your question about your friends, but there are a lot of very knowledgable people here, so I am sure someone will be able to help you.

:cheer2:way to go dis!!! Congrats to all the winners. I love the dis, and I love couponing to disney. So glad to see the two of you on here! (And all the other winners too!)

As a side note,we are planning a may 2013 trip, but my dh told my ds2 (who is terrified of the toilet)that when he stopped using diapers he would take him to see Mickey. Ds called his bluff and has gone 2 days w/out diapers. Just like that. I am thrilled! Just wish dh would have used a less expensive bribe! 2013 is a long way off lol! Hope fedex shows up soon so ds doesnt think we are liars  Never thought he'd get out of diapers the way he was going!

My son keeps asking if tomorrow is when we are going to Disneyland, and he's 3, so he has no concept of time. I told him it'll be in more than 120 night-nights. Then, last night I told him we'd go when he started using the potty! I've already told him I'd take him to the Disney Store for something when he stops using diapers, but I think taking him to see Mickey might do the trick too.

Congrats to all the winners! :goodvibes

Wow, this a long thread. I've scrolled through, but can't find an answer to my question. Sorry if it's been asked before.

We are a family of 6. *If* (a big if, I know) we won, would they allow you to add on tickets and a room?

When I start dreaming about winning :lovestruc I imagine we would try to get connecting rooms and pay for the second room (we have some NE tickets so I could skip that part) and airfare.

Oh, I keep seeing your Goose Creek, and thinking it's funny because I am Deborah D. in Queen Creek.

So happy for you and all the winners! I was hoping to be the first from Arizona...;)

Happy planning.:goodvibes

To the winners, has anyone been notified on the weekend or only during the week?

Congrats :yay: Enjoy your trips. Can't wait to hear about them :goodvibes

I assume you are referring to the $100 gc for signing up for a new Disney Visa account, right? All I can tell you is that it was an ad on a page. Caught my eye because of the $100 incentive. You don't usually see them for that. You'll just have keep your eyes open for the ad.

Disneynan, I just found the offer on the Disney website on this page: http://disney.go.com/disneyinsider/special-offers

$100 gc for opening up a new Disney Visa card is a very nice offer. I hope you or some others can take advantage of it. However, reading the small print, this card has a $49.00 annual fee whereas the regular Disney Visa doesn't have an annual fee. Something to consider before signing up.

Congrats to you. I posted about a previous win, and nothing we added was at a discount from the contest. I used a discount code from this board to extend our trip at a Disney resort. I didn't have to buy tickets since we were given 4, and only had 2 people. I don't think Disney will give you a discount specifically for being a contest winner. Have fun on your trip!

pqdebbie, thanks so much for researching this......I think I misunderstood your original post. I thought the $100 GC was for the DVC tour. We already both have Disney Visa cards! But thanks and good luck with this contest!!

I would also like to thank all of you who recommended going to the Disney.go site to update our information. All of my info was correct, but there was nothing for my DS19 and DH's personal email account was listed under my name. So of course, no I am obsessing over the fear that one of them was chosen and either couldn't be contacted or disqualified. Oh well, another whole month left to go for all of us!

All of you winners must be going crazy wondering when you will be allowed to travel.:woohoo:

YEAH to all our winners!!!
Noticed on the website today there are 2 winners listed from IL both only about 40 miles from me....now if they would just pick my name it would be the perfect trifecta!!!!!

:laughing::laughing::laughing:

To all of the winners..... Congrats!! This is so exciting to see so many winners in one place. I have been entering by text each day and my husband by computer... Hoping for some pixie dust for us and more DIS winners too!!!:wizard:

This is my first post on the DIS! I've been reading the DIS for a long time, and have learned a lot of great information about saving time and money at WDW.

Congrats to all the winners. :woohoo:

Do we know if the winners entered online, by text or both??? Just curious....

Congrats to all, hoping to be adding my name to the list

Congrats to all the winners! It must be an awesome feeling. I think I might just jump up and down and squeal with excitement like my 8 year old daughter if I found out I won!

I must say...:sad: ... When is it my turn? LOL pixiedust:
