I've decided that I'm paying Comcast/Xfinity way too much for my internet service. I'm paying something like 63 a month for it. Can anyone suggest good internet for cheaper please??

You're right -- that IS way too much for cable internet.

Since you're in Nashville (which is close to my hometown), you have a couple of other options:

  • AT&T DSL (using your traditional phone line)
  • AT&T U-verse (if available where you live) - it's very similar to what you get from Comcast
Also, if you're just a casual user (checking e-mail, light web surfing), you might consider getting a prepaid USB aircard from Virgin Mobile -- I believe they're charging around $35 a month...

U-Verse is what I have...and I love it. :)

I'm in Washington state and want to get ride of Comcast Internet as well!!!! We are paying $80 a month, how crazy and wasteful!!!! I have worried though because we are a large family of heavy Internet users, if cheaper ,exams spotty coverage that would be a problem. I'd love to hear about other options than Comcast !!

This is interesting that this thread appeared. Just a couple of hours ago my neighbor called to say that she is fed up with Comcast and wants to find another internet option. I will be watching this thread to see what other options are available.

It really depends what you use the internet connection for. If you're just a casual user, something like Uverse or (*choke*) even DSL would probably be fine. If you or anyone in your household does any sort of online gaming, the difference between Xfinity and anything lesser would be very noticable. Like, get you killed because of the lag, noticable.

I would love to pay less too, but no way am I willing to give up any of the speed of Xfinity.
