Well- being Newlyweds without children I can think of a few things that can be done without costing any money. (wink wink)
If you're not careful, that may end up costing you more money than anything else you could possibly do on the Magic!
Actually, a cruise is pretty much all-inclusive and you can seriously spend as much or as little as you like.
One thing I would not miss out on is dinner, brunch and tea at Palo. These will cost you a little bit additional in gratuities, but will be well worth it.
I would also look for a snorkel and mask and bring those with me. When we did the eastern caribbean cruise, I had never snorkeled before and was nervous about trying it. I tried it for the first time at
castaway cay and it was much easier than I thought it would be! If I had my own snorkel I would've just checked out what there is to see under the water at the islands we went to before castaway cay. It costs $25 to rent gear at castaway cay, but only $9 to rent the fins. Lifejackets are required but free.
We only did one excursion on our eastern caribbean cruise, but i really enjoyed it. It was a walking tour of historic charlotte-amalie on St. Thomas (i'm a historic preservation person so I was really interested). Unless you are really interested in water sports and it is worth it to you, we decided that we could have just as great a time just walking around and exploring the islands on our own. We didn't feel like we were missing out at all. We went back to the ship for lunch, and it was easy getting on and off (much easier than I expected).
Hope that helps!
