I am in DESPRATE need of a two duvet covers. One to cover a old family quilt thats worn and loosing stuffing and one to cover a hair covered black quilt (freind is allergic). Only problem is they must be cheap. Both is full sized quilts. Im looking for somthing stylish. Prefebally one with black and turqouise and the second with a police, fire, ems, type of design but Im up to anything. Also could one take two opened sleeping bags and zip them together?

Do you have an IKEA nearby? Or try the clearance section of TJ Maxx or Homegoods? Not sure you'll find the specific styles you're looking for.

Just a quick question on your motive - you mentioned (I think) needing the duvet cover for a hair filled blanket because your friend has allergies. I'm assuming you mean pet hair? Your friend may still have allergy troubles even if you cover over the quilt/comforter with a duvet. I'm not sure how sensitive his/her allergies are, but I know my friend would still struggle if she had to sleep with a pet fur filled duvet. (much like people with feather allergies - the feathers are covered by the pillowcase, but they're still allergy inducing). Just something to consider or discuss with your friend. Good luck!!

Oh, and I'm not sure about the sleeping bags - I would think you could zip them together on one side to make a super sized blanket?? :confused3

My mom does this all of the time with her duvets: she sews flat sheets together to make a cover. On one end, she sews in velcro strips so she can place the duvet in...also makes it very easy to wash!

Find sheets that you like and sew them on three sides. Viola! New duvet cover!

I second the comment about the hair. Don't give that one to the allergic friend.

I hate sewing which is why im trying to buy something preferably online since our stores suck. Im just covering to make it more umm freindy when shes in my room. I mean shes not using it, just hanging out in my room. Just like I cant hang out in her room too close to her bed (fluffy down).

Target has a few markdown aisle in the bedding, linen area. As a matter of fact I just brought one back that I had purchased. It was a cream color and very nice marked down to $19.98. So check out your Target store.

Check out the housewares section of coboutlet.com . It's the online outlet for Chadwick's of Boston. They had duvet covers for $10. Most were twin size, but some in full and king.

I bought a basic duvet cover (white --but it came in a few other colors) in a full/queen size for around $20 on overstock.com. Definitely not high-end quality but a basic 300tc "cheap" but decent quality duvet cover a few weeks ago. Very happy with it!

Tried our local target but they had nada! Have to check online. Why is it when they have a design there like 60 bucks! Grrr 30 dollars or under for me! Im cheap

Why not just put the family quilt away to prevent further damage and replace it with a nice comforter or blanket. We buy this sort of thing all the time at yard sales and other resale places. Just launder them well before use. Some of the ones we've bought for a few dollars have been like brand new.

I purchased our duvet cover from JCPENNY, jcp.com

100% cotton
twin with 1 pillow cover and queen with 2 matching pillow covers. They have button closures, very soft and comfy. I think we paid 40 dollars for the queen set with free shipping.

good luck!
