Can anyone please recommend a cheap and cheerful hotel please?

My requirements are that there be no resort fee and no parking fee!
Previously have used Fairfield at Marriott Village (on Vineland) but they've started charging for parking now.

All ideas welcome!

Thanks everyone.

Hello. I can't answer your question but I can recommend a really good book that covers hotels in the area in detail. The Unofficial Guide to WDW. It is the most comprehensive review if Orlando hotels I have ever found, offsite and onsite.

Have you thought about staying in Kissimmee? We stayed at Quality inns and suites at Entry Point Blvd for our cheeky cheapy week in May and it was lovely. £30 a night from lowcost holidays - big clean room with coffee maker (including tea bags) fridge and microwave, front desk gave us a king room rather than 2 queens. Great free breakfast with hot & cold selections. Best bit is its on the Sherberth road junction of the 192 meaning Animal Kingdom in about 5 minutes. Fantastic and we're planning another cheeky week next year and will definitely stay here again.

Try here for info on resort fees and parking, try googling "Orlando Cheapo resort fees" - comprehensive lists.

We have used Rosen, Clarion, Best Western, Four Points - all cheap, all cheerful.

We also used to use Fairfield, Marriott Village but not anymore. They started charging for parking and receiving a package.

Next month trying the Hilton Garden Inn LBV, cost just over £40/nt, free Wifi, parking, no resort fee and no fee for receiving our Magicbands. Responded very quickly to my emails asking questions. Impressed so far.

What dates do you want I will see if I can see any offers anywhere.

We used to stay on the 192/Kissimmee area but after staying many times at LBV I doubt we will go back now.

Thank you so much everyone.
I'm so disappointed with Fairfield too!
My dates are 11 aug for 8 nights

Some very good prices for values onsite, not my cup of tea but still very good rates. Expedia have All star Sports or All star Music at £50/nt, book via Expedia for 13% cashback, if that pays out your final price = £43.50/nt

If you don't mind being on Hwy192 we have stayed here a few times but it gets mixed reviews, we found it OK for the money, £20/nt with Monarch (after 4% cashback with Quidco) http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_...ingate_Lakeside_Resort-Kissimmee_Florida.html

This is always a popular value resort in LBV, £29 less 6% Quidco = £27/nt with Netflights http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_...ion_Inn_Lake_Buena_Vista-Orlando_Florida.html

Hilton Garden Inn LBV where we are staying is a bit more money for your dates, £56 with Expedia less 13% Quidco = £48/nt http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_...Lake_Buena_Vista_Orlando-Orlando_Florida.html

thank you!
that's really great of you to look at those hotels for me. They look great. I will check them out properly now!

has anyone used priceline?
i just checked for dates that DD might be there in september and i got crazy inexpensive rates for the orlando bonnet creek resort and a few others.
(of course, i'm not sure which ones have those obnoxious resort fees)

but i've never used priceline.

Never used Priceline.

Depends which resort at Bonnet Creek, we are staying at the Wyndham BC this year which has no resort or parking fee but you have to pay for the buses to the parks if you want that service, Hilton BC I believe has parking fees.

I found a great price for Rosen Shingle Creek 4/5* for about £45/nt but then there is resort & parking fees. Sometimes they do deals with all the fees included.

resort fees are such fraud -they advertise a cheap rate and then slap on those fees.

i had to stay at one of the hotels in near DTD - in hotel plaza. I have to look up the name.
i was there for a conference, which supposedly had this fantastic rate - and then i get there and there's a resort fee (i think it was $25/night).
i was so angry but that's where the conference was, so no alternative anyway.

i looked it up - it was the Buena Vista Palace Hotel and Spa

i just looked up their website - they don't mention anything about a resort fee - not that i can find. And i know that when i reserved the room on the phone, they never mentioned it.
But it's a mandatory resort fee. Such deception.

i reserved on the phone, but if you book online, in the last step they add in the resort fee and as i remembered, it's $25/night. So that cheap rate isn't so cheap when it's raised up by over 25% for the resort fee.

The Rosen Inn Pointe Orlando. We are here now it is a no frills motel style. Has very comfortable beds, fridge, microwave and coffee machine in room. If staying here email and ask for room facing international drive and high floor. Reason for high floor no one walking about above you. Oh the air con is noisy but after 1 night we got used to it.

If you book direct do they tell you before booking re car park and resort fees or are these a nasty surprise when get there

They are all different, just same as using an agent, some are clear about fees others have small print.
Can't think I have ever booked direct for an offsite hotel, they are usually far more expensive compared to using an agent. Our next stay at Hilton Garden Inn is costing me under £700, direct price was over $2,200 (£1,300)

Hi Wayne

Do for example bookings.com etc show it clearly what is and is not included?

Bookings.com & Expedia seem to be quite good at showing fees, other sites like Lowcostholidays not so good, no site is perfect. I always check direct, agents, read reviews and if still not 100% sure email and ask.

as Wayne said, they're all different.
The place i booked with - on the phone they didn't say a thing.
They gave me this "great" rate and didn't mention there's a mandatory resort fee of $25/night.

but had i booked online, i would have seen it. Just on the phone they didn't tell me.

Do the universal hotels mention there is a parking fee?
i don't recall them telling me.
Then when i pulled in i saw that it was $!5 i think.
I was angry they hadn't mentioned it.
But i have an american handicapped badge - so i showed it to the doorman - he said that all the handicapped spaces (which are free) were full so i could use valet and i shouldn't have to pay for it or for the parking since the handicapped spaces were full.
So i gave the valet my car and then when i went in, reception told me i had to pay.
Well, i gave them quite a piece of my mind over that.
In the end, they relented and didn't charge me for parking.

We stayed at the Clarion Inn last year, was great for what we needed. Not sure about car park fees as we didnt have one but thiers no resort fees, and its only 10ish mins away from DTD
