I was just wondering if MAW is still keeping you hanging in regards to your cruise dates. Have they been able to give you a new date and any concrete information yet? You would think they wouldn't leave you hanging like this as you probably have so much to work out prior to taking vacation.

Well to make a long story short, the Christmas cruise is off, however they told me they booked in the spring....
we have no paperwork yet... just waiting patiently...

That's too bad about them cancelling your Christmas cruise. I can't believe that they told you that you were ging on the 4 night and then pulled it from you. That doesn't seem right to have gotten your daughter's hopes up like that and then squashed them. Have they given you the dates of your spring cruise at least, or are they keeping you waiting?

And why don't you have a new date? Make a Wish is usually a very upstanding, reputable agency. To promice a trip to a child and then pull it seems very out of the ordinary! Very strange.

this is one mystery which keeps getting deeper and deeper.... seems very strange that MAW would just change a wish without a reason and then not tell you the new dates.

We weren't ever 'promised' any dates, nothing was ever set in stone. When they originally visited Alyssa....We were simply asked for dates that was good for us and they work from there. Our first choice was for Christmas vacation....because of school ....but that didnt work out, the ship was full...which is to be expected. I mean, ya never know. So then they opt to the next date of choice...
Alyssa knows what is going on with the dates, she knows we tried for Christmas and that didn't work out. She knows they booked for springtime...and she is perfectly happy with it.
So, there is NO mystery that is getting deeper and deeper.... MAW didn't change anything....
Things are in the works at this time.... We are booked for a spring cruise.

That is NOT the way Make A Wish operates....We had a wish trip years ago through Make a Wish and I have worked with them since then on a few things and they would NEVER get someones hopes up then squash them...in fact they told us when we were getting a wish to not tell the child any dates or anything until they finalized them so they would not get their hopes up! I think that Make a Wish is overloaded with people looking for wishes since they give to kids who are just seriously ill, not only terminal and that makes a heck of a lot of kids! Plus they include family which can include many people.

Yes it is....but that includes a lot of illnesses, including childhood Leukemia which most children survive.... I know many kids who have that from my area(including my godson who died but from a brain tumor not the leukemia and my other good friends daughter who is just finishing up treatment , my friends daughter at work who had been in remission 8 years already etc...) so there is a big strain on make a wish....people also ask for big wishes, like 5 year olds asking for trips to Hawaii, now who do you think is really asking for that trip, mom and/or dad are the ones who want the family to go to Hawaii in most cases, not the wish child....I personally know a lot of families that try to double and triple dip these foundations too trying to get whatever they can, they go to Make a Wish, Starlight, Wish Is Granted and a lot of others....they should all get together and share a data bank of kids who had wishes so it would make it harder for these people to not do this and then they would have more money for kids who actually do deserve a wish. I see it in the other foundation I work with too and it really gets to me...

How about things like diabetes, anaphylactic allergies etc.

I once read in our newspaper about a family that had a trip to Disney. It was for their young twin sons, now I don't know all of the family history but I do know the boys have an anaphylactic allergy to nuts. I was wondering if they got it because of that.

Now my son has an anaphylactic allergy to nuts and I would never even think about using an organization like those for something like that. But some people probably would.
