Charlotte Singedskull and the Frozen Castle-Aug 30 thru Sept 4- Complete!

That globe is really cool. I love those kinds of things. It's funny, I became more interested in Geography once I wasn't forced to study it.

Yacht Club is really beautiful.

I always liked Geography. And I just love old maps. They are so fascinating.

Yacht Club is really beautiful.

It really is. It was really quiet in the lobby too. There was an underlying whisper of wealth and privilege to it. Clearly, I did not belong there.

Hahaha! I live vicariously through you people who can stay there, while I'm in the values or the moderates.

We have stayed at Pop before and had a great time. The only thing I don't like about the values and moderates are the double beds. They are just too small to be truly comfortable.

We bought into DVC back in June 2011. We had rented points at Old Key West and we did the whole DVC presentation mid week. We caught DH in a warm, fuzzy Disney moment and he decided we needed 320 points. I was like - get him to sign it FAST - before he changes his mind. We have really enjoyed it this last couple of years.

It you want to stay deluxe, I STRONGLY advise you to rent DVC points. It is almost half as much as Disney charges for the deluxes. I think when we stayed for a week in June of 2011 in a one bedroom villa it was something like $2400. Disney will charge you $3900 for that same week. If you rent points for a studio, then it is much cheaper. A studio would run you about $1300 for the week to rent points. Disney charges $2800.

I don't know the size of your family and how often you go, but it is certainly something to consider. I mean you could stay in a studio in a deluxe resort for less than you can stay at a moderate.

We like the one bedroom because of the space it provides. It really does feel like home.

Hmmmm.....that's something to think about. We usually go in October when I'm on Fall Break (teacher). I'm thinking September, Labor Day weekend, could become a possibility by the looks of the crowds from your photos.

When you rent points, you're renting from a DVC member?

I don't mean to hijack your trip report, but I'm always interested in ways to get my trips cheaper.

Thanks for your info, Susan!

I would be willing to trade the lower crowds in September for the cooler weather and Food and Wine of October.

When you rent points, you're renting from a DVC member?

Yes. Not directly, they have a broker type person. I rented from David's Disney Vacation Club Point Rental. You put in a request and then they tell what is available for your time period. So you don't exactly get to pick where you stay, but there are options. It doesn't really matter because all of the DVC resorts are amazing !! Another thing to consider is you have to pay for it all up front. But they send you a confirmation. It went perfect for us.

Hey, I am happy to help.

Thanks for your info, Susan!

Sure let me know if you have any questions.

Oreo bon bons for breakfast!? Sign me up!

Hahahaha! Good job DD putting the gift card in the freezer!

Aww, that's sad that the Yorkshire Fish Shop doesn't have the shortbread for dessert anymore.

She does look cute in her pink beret. Good choice.

I was going to say you better have gotten a GGS! I mean, you were right by the stand. No excuses!

Hey, I was going to say the same thing. Just let DS be stupid wearing the wool hat. It's a phase. Plus, at some point, when he's an adult, he'll look at the pictures and know the error of his ways. ;)

That looks like a pretty tasty cupcake there. I'm a cupcake monger.

If you like maps, you would LOVE the map room at the Vatican. They have a super super super long room with old maps just all over the place. It was pretty cool.

I just took a look at that site. I'll definitely be investigating it further for next year.

Thanks so much!

I know, right?? They tasted so good with my coffee

Yep. It was really funny.

It is a shame. I love shortbread. The stuff we had was really good though.

She kept talking about getting one and how adorable she was going to look in it. And she was right !!

I was going to say you better have gotten a GGS! I mean, you were right by the stand. No excuses!

Do you think that I would miss a GGS opportunity?? Yeah - no. Gotta have my GGS.

Please tell me this is phase. And that he grows out if it before the piercings and tattoos happen ..... :crazy2:

It really was tasty cupcake. The cherry filling inside was pleasant surprise.

Yes, I would love to spend that day there. I have several framed prints of old maps in my house. Italy is on my bucket list for sure.

I highly recommend it. If we had not bought into DVC, we would definitely still be renting points. It really does make sense. I mean the values and moderates are all great, but if you want try deluxe, definitely rent points.

Day 5 Part 1

We got up on this morning about 7:30 AM and headed over to Magic Kingdom. DD was really excited about this day because we were going to do the Pirates League makeover. Here is the outfit she came up with.

We drove over and hopped on the monorail.

We headed toward Adventureland.

DD wanted to make SURE they had our appointment, so we went and checked and they had us down for 10:45 AM. Good enough. DH suggested we ride POTC since we were right there.

I would like to say we enjoyed this ride, but we didnt. There were 5 or 6 girls in front of us that took flash photos the ENTIRE ride. It was VERY rude. They were taking selfies which meant the flash was going off in our faces. We yelled at them to stop but they just kept right on. Once the boat stopped and we got off, I tapped one of the girls on the shoulder and told her she was very rude and that all of her friends were as well. I explained that we couldnt see a thing due the flashes on their cameras.

DH came up behind and really started yelling at them. Not our finest moment, but they just needed to be told. All of them were quiet while we were talking to them and a couple even hung their heads. We said our piece and moved on.

Will we get to ride POTC again?? Most likely. Did this ruin our trip or our day? No. But sometimes you just have to tell people they are being rude. Anyway - moving on ....

We calmed ourselves down and headed over to BTMRR to get fast passes. But there was no line so we rode standby. I rode once and took photos while the other rode again.

DH rode Splash Mountain with no wait while DH and DD rode BTMRR again.

DH and DD took one more ride while I tried to get DS to smile.

We headed back over towards Adventureland again. We wanted to stay close so we could get to DDs appointment.

When people tell me that they really don't like chocolate, I always wonder if they actually are human. I mean - how is it possible to NOT like chocolate? It boggles the mind ....
I totally agree. It isn't right to not like chocolate.

Sorry about the experience on POTC. So annoying. Although, I'd have probably not handled it as well as just waiting until after the ride and saying something. I'd probably be sitting there coming up with other ways to torment them during the ride and annoy them to the same extent that they were annoying me. Hypothetically anyway. It isn't like I've ever stooped to someone's level and done anything like that before... :rolleyes1 :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

And I just don't see how your DS can wear that hat... :confused3 :faint:

For. Realz.

We were so unreasonably mad about it. Hey, I was young once. And I was self-centered and self-absorbed, so I get that they were possibly clueless. But I am certain we made an impact on them. So hopefully they were more aware and respectful the rest of their trip. Keep in mind, the CM's said nothing to them about it. Perhaps because we were doing such a good job of it.

And I just don't see how your DS can wear that hat... :confused3 :faint:

I don't mind the hat, it is just that it was over 90 degrees, that is what I don't understand. It is more mind boggling than not liking chocolate.

Exactly! No problem with the hat in itself. Just the time and the place it is being worn. I can't even stand it if my hair gets kind of long in the summer.

Yeah -we are getting the hair cut soon. He looks shaggy. I am afraid we will have to rename our dog Scooby Doo. LOL

It's really a shame when people can ruin a ride for others. Good for you guys for saying something to them.

I think your daughter chose the perfect outfit for her Pirates League makeover!

I felt kinda bad afterwards, but I hope they just understood why we were so mad. Hoepfully, they were just clueless and not super rude people

She has better fashion sense than her brother !!

Is it bad that I want to get a Pirate makeover? :rolleyes1

Absolutely agree, sometimes you absolutely have to tell people when they're being stupid. I however, would look at them and say "you're an idiot!" :lmao:

No. There were plenty of adults in there. I would love to see that photo !!

We had to stop and TELL them why they were being an idiot. To tell the truth, I am not entirely sure they even spoke English. Hopefully they understood anyway.

Just catching up again. I love the pink beret and how DD really works it!

I am glad you scolded those girls. that drives me so batty.
