Charging Purchases While in Parks

Although we've been to Disney a few times, this will be our first time staying onsite. I really don't like leaving cash in the hotel room, or taking lots of cash into the parks. Is there an option to charge purchases back to our room and then pay for them at the end of our stay ?

We also stay at Pop Century. You don't have to worry about leaving cash in your room because there is a safe in every room that you can use. If you want to charge and have it put on your bill, when you check in , let them know that you want to be able to do this and they will take an imprint of your credit card (or whatever they do in this electronic age) and it will be put on your credit card at the end of your stay at the resort. Nice and easy! Either way, no worries!!!

I just realized that I didn't explain that very well.(blonde moment or alzheimers, take your pick) When you give them your credit card information at check-in, the card that is your room key is used to charge to your room. It makes it so convenient, one plastic card that can be your room key, your park ticket, and a credit card all in one!!!

We haven't done this yet, but might be doing it in September, but you could put money (cash) on your account and have your charges deducted from that.

Yes you can charge against cash that you have left on your account too. It's done basically the same way, just send the cash in advance to your account or pay it down at check in when you pay for your room then they'll set up your room key for charging privileges against this extra amount. We've done this on several occasions before we had credit cards that offered rewards.

We just used the "Key to the World" on our last trip! It was our room key, park admissions ticket, charge card and DDP card. It was great. We also didn't want to carry alot of cash so we purchased a rechargeable Visa card from AAA, that way it did not have any of our personal information on it and was not linked to our bank account. It did not have our name on it, just AAA member and we were able to use that for our Key to the World charge card. It is so much more convenient only having the card to worry about for the vacation! remember too. When staying on property you don't have to carry your purchase's around, they will bring them to your resort for you. that is the best! Have fun shopping!

We used the charging option on our room card during our trip in Sept. It worked out well. They took our debit card # and we set the spending limit. There were 7 of us and just 2 of the room keys were activated for charging. The morning of checkout we had a bill listing everything and the total was billed to the debit card.

We have used the card to charge all our purchases in Disney and DTD and it is great! I also like having my packages sent back to the room instead of carring them around, just remember not to wait until the last day to shop because packages usually don't arrive until afternoon the following day. We have never had any problem with items not being there, you have a receipt and Disney has a receipt! I thnik this is a GREAT service!

ooh ooh i know this one. when you stay onsite you can have your purchases charged to your credit card through your room key. when you check in cm ask for your credit card and ask if you want your room key to have purchasing power. definitely a safe way and convienent way to shop in the world

You will get a key to the world card if you stay on site and that will be your everything card, park card, key card to room, credit card to charge stuff. It is wonderful. The rooms have safes and we used it to hold our cash and had no trouble.

I don"t get it why not just use my visa everywhere I go and keep a little bit of cash on me. Whats the advantage of charging my room key which charges my visa?

I think for most it is just a convience things. When we went before we charged things on our room keys and it was just convient not to worry about if we had enough cash on hand or having to find an atm, and then we only had to keep up with our room key and ID instead of worry about lossing our actual credit card/cash.

The reason to use key to the world card and not your visa is b/c if you lose your visa then it is a big hassle, anyone can pick it up and charge on it. If you lose your key to the world card, NO ONE can use it but you and they will re issue you another one. Very nice. They will cancel the lost one immediatly and re issue.

One more thing - if you are on the DDP and using your key to the world card, make sure to let your server know. That way they charge the DDP and not your room!

I would assume they are. You are issued a key for your safe when you check in. We put our stuff in there last time we were at Disney and did not have any problems.
