Character & Other Dining Reviews

We just got back this weekend. Here are some reviews for our character dining:

Chef Mickeys: Dinner, Saturday June 4
We had PS for 7:10. Arrived at about 6:45 and didn't get seated till about 7:30.. It was a MAD HOUSE. However, after we were seated things were wonderful. The services was excellent. Our waitress was very prompt. The food was awesome. It was some of the best peel and eat shrimp and prime rib i have had. Even though it was crowded the characters spent lots of time with the kids. They were by the table numerous times and always stopped. Sometimes for just a second... others for a longer time.

Hollywood & Vine: Dinner, Sunday June 5
This was part of Fantasmic Dinner package... I highly recommend this if you want to see Fantasmic.
We had PS for 3:50.. but it didn't open for dinner till 4... ??? We were seated promptly when they opened. The food and service was really good. Not alot to say other than I would eat there again. Don't forget to stop by and look at the chocolate castle... AMAZING

Crystal Palace: Dinner, Tuesday, June 7
I can sum this up in two words.. NEVER AGAIN
This place wasn't as good as a $8.99 buffet at Ponderosa!!! It all started with the seating..... They wasnted to split our group into two table when there was one big enough right beside us. We argued and finally gave up.

The service was ok, but nothing special.

The food was ok... when it was there. The kids buffet was almost empty both times I went up there. The prime rib was gone (It was only 5 PM) The other food just seemed normal. I do have to say the desserts were very VERY good. The Key lime tarts and cheesecake were great.

The characters were very hurried. When they came to the table it was like they couldn't get away fast enough. In fact we had to push Tigger to pose with everyone. Piglet skipped our table ??? we asked the waitress to ask for his return, which he did. Eyeore barely stopped at the table.


Whispering Canyon: Thurday, June 9, Lunch
The food was very good. Service was great. I would eat there again. However.. I have to say they were much calmer than other times we were there.

Wow! CP that bad? You are making me rethink my plans for Oct. Has anyone else had this kind of experience at Crystal Palace?

We had CP for breakfast yesterday and absolutely loved it. Our 2 kids had a blast and we thought the food was great.

We also have had bad luck with CP for dinner and we have been several times....we did try them for breakfast and it was much much better. The chef's would make made to order pancakes for you which DH loved!

We are eating at Whispering Canyon (first time) in 2 weeks. Did you have the all you can eat skillet or something else? Any recommendations?? Thanks.

Did you find H&V to be very noisy? We also have an AR for the fantasmic package, so I'm hoping it will be fun!

That is ashame about CP. We have eaten lunch and dinner there and it is our favorite character meal. The characters always spend a lot of time with dd and for her birthday, she got confetti, streamers, a card, a cupcake with a candle and she got to parade around the restaurant with Pooh who was holding a sign that said "it's my special day". They were so good to us! The food was really good too. When something was out, I would just say "got anymore _____" and they would immediately fill it up or tell me "it'll be about 5 minutes". You have to expect that on a buffet, but there should always be someone refilling.

I would have complained to the manager. Management doesn't always know when thinks aren't up to par so sometimes, you as the customer have to tell them to make it right.

Exactly the opposite, although it is nearly two tears since we had dinner in CP - on 4th July, 2003 - and it was great. The characters spent lots of time with us for photos etc and our server "went the extra mile" to keep us entertained. He himself sang to us (good voice) and then toward the end of our meal fetched a female server who he said was auditioning for a singing role as Belle the next day and would we mind if she sung her song to us. As you would expect she was wonderful and it really made our dinner event a special occasion. We hope to revisit CP on 5th July.

Hi,

Sorry you had a bad night at the CP. Our daughter and her boyfriend (in their 40's) had dinner there about 10 days ago and raved about the food, the service, and the character interactioon. And she is a fusspot from the word go. We have always had great experiences there ourselves. Maybe you could give it another try in the future. That being said, we hope the rest of your trip was a most magical one!!

Worfie: I didn't find HV to be noisy. At least no more noisy than any other place at a Park.

Natalie: Yes we got the Fantasmic Package with our dinner. I highly recommend it. It saved us at least an hour waiting in line for Fantasmic. The seats are on the side but still GREAT. Not a bad seat in the place.

Matt&JakesMom: I had the skillet. It was very good. My wife had chicken. She liked it very well too. We also had the nachos as appetizer. They were very good, but a lot to eat with a meal.

penny: I can't remember what it was called. But there was a seafood pasta dish that was awesome. I ate way too much. Should have stopped after the second helping

As for CP, my parents were with us also. They have ate there several other times. It was first time for me. They couldn't believe how bad it was. But it might have been an isolated incident. No place is perfect all the time.
