Chapek said he was investing in attractions to WOW us- thats the problem.

Chapek thinks the Disney audience is looking for more and more immersive, high tech experiences. This just shows he doesn't get it. I believe guests are looking for the human aspect of the magic. It's missing. Why is Jungle Cruise still popular? Because it has a human narrator. What makes the parks fun? Those unexpected guest and cast member interactions. Computer screens and phones are not magical. They are sterile, utilitarian and not creative.

3 generations of my extended family love ROTR. I can’t say the same about Jungle Cruise. We have zero plans to ride it in June. ETA-We are also not Star Wars fans.

Yeah, but Jungle Cruise opened how many decades ago? Do you think ROTR will exist in that same time frame? Don't get me wrong, the new rides are really good (I love Remy, not sure why it gets hate), but the rides I will never get tired of? Small World, Jungle Cruise, etc. I'm not saying one ride is better than the other, but some are certainly timeless.

I think Chapek is 100% correct on this one, guests expect way more out of rides then they used to. You make a ride low tech like the jungle cruise now and the pitchforks and torches will be out in full force.

I want both. I want "traditional" Walt style rides with the classic Disney touch but using the latest tech. You can guarantee Walt would have had his toe in every new technology out there to make his parks better.

Navy River Journey, in my mind, is a perfect example of classic Disney and modern tech. Its a shame they cut the budget on it and made it too short. But it's exactly the kind of rides Id like to see more of.

Why wouldn’t it be? Star Wars isn’t going away. They may need to update it like they have & plan to do with other rides, but sure. A large part of Jungle Cruise & Small Word appeal is nostalgia.

WDW is going to get left behind if it doesn't go cutting edge at least sometimes.
WDW is in a tricky place where they have to balance cutting edge with family friendly (at least sometimes.) I think they have been doing an ok job with that balance with the newer rides and lands.

I think the biggest problem is that they are extremely slow at adding things. Epcot is the perfect example as it has almost become derelique before they invested and improved it. The wonders of life is still closed, innovations was old-ovations and it just was getting dated. Most parks open each year with new things and Disney has 4 parks and usually doesnt even have a single new thing. They in reality should open a new attraction in each park every year but havent and that is part of the problem.

They just need to open a new park. They have the room, they have the money, they have the demand.

sadly in my opinion they need to finish the 4 they have, MK is really the only one with a full offering and it still needs a few more. The rest really dont have enough attractions.

The difference between the two is that JC is NOSTALGIC, whereas RoTR is INNOVATIVE. I'm not saying that one is better than the other - they appeal to different audiences. Personally, I love FoP way better than RotR, but I also love the classics - HM and Wedway People Mover are still my faves. I totes get what the OP is saying - the so-called 'simpler' attractions are more apt to create fond family memories, whereas the newer stuff is more a 'one-and-done'....for me anyhoo.

They are terrified of taking on the debt. As was mentioned above just look at Epcot!
...not to mention their latest foray into political agenda, which has turned many of their faithful into 'no-longer-visitors/visitors elsewhere"...

Disney has always been very attentive to government. Any corporation has to be to protect and advance its interests.

The recent publicity has more to do with DeSantis's rumored political ambitions than it does with Disney being more involved in politics.

Anyone distressed by Disney's objection to the recently signed PRIE bill (aka Don't Say Gay) has been out of touch with current affairs if they're only now reacting to Disney's advocacy of inclusiveness and tolerance of individual variations.

One place they are NOT cutting edge is accessibility. FOP is horrific- and the movie’s central character was disabled. Navi River. Nope, and accommodate wheelchairs. Torn? Nope! Star Wars?! Nope. and the list goes on.

...I agree with this. Last October my DS [he's DVC] and his GF invited her DSis and husband, who is a quadraplegic - he wasn't able to board many of the WDW rides.
