If I want to change stateroom within the same category and the price has gone up, do I have to pay the new price, or am I locked into the price I paid when I first booked the room?

I'm pretty sure I was told by my TA that this has changed and now you pay the new room at the current price.

I think the new rule change only pertains to changing room category. Changing the stateroom in the same category shouldn't result in a new fare. But the rule is new and there hasn't been a lot of feedback yet. Please let us know.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to find this new rule? I truly tried to search but came up with nothing. We are thinking of changing our room category for our September cruise and have put off calling thinking I would be locked in at my booking rate. If it matters we think we want to downgrade from verandah to ocean view as we ended up spending very little time on the verandah during our recent February cruise.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to find this new rule?
It was posted here on 2/25/2022 along with a notice about the system upgrades that occurred last week. I honestly don't know if or where you might find such a policy posted online, because I'm not sure the old policy was ever posted online. Not every operating "policy" is a publicly posted policy.

Thanks for your quick response. Now I just need to decide if waiting all day on the phone is worth the money we’d save by downgrading.

First I'd confirm that it is a savings. Depending on the date/itinerary and how much time has passed, even a downgrade from verandah to oceanview can cost more or be negligible savings.

If I’m looking at it correctly the current ocean view price for a deck 2 9B would be $560 less than the deck 7 midship 5B that I’m currently booked in for the 7 day Fantasy on September 24. As there are no other 5B mid ship cabins showing as available right now I need to be absolutely positive I want to switch because I can’t switch back. Wishing I would have booked a placeholder on our recent cruise as I could have just canceled my current booking and rebooked since now my price isn’t locked in.

Can you not change on the website? I thought I had done that before, but it may have been really early in booking for the same exact dollar amount.

I’m booked through Costco. According to what I read on their website I’ve got to call for a category change. I did a cabin number change within the same category by filling out an online form with them earlier this year but can’t do this one by online form
