Does anyone know if this is possible????
I would love to upgrade from POP, but we got that terrific 40% off deal...
If there is availability, would they let us upgrade, and still get 40% off?
(I'm doubting it, so haven't tried...but just found out this will likely be our last big trip for a couple of years, so I thought it would be fun to kick it up a little.)
POP will be fine, but just curious...

I make a change speaking to a guest services cast member. Although, the reason we had to change was my husband has to have emergency surgery a week before we were able to go. The availability was almost non-existent, however, they managed to find us a hotel on the monorail from Dec 16 - 23. We are staying at the Contemporary (garden wing, again only thing available) , our original reservation was at the Poly, there was no availability for the code for 7 night straight there any dates until the promotion dates end.

I was thrilled they worked so hard to be able to get us in somewhere, however, when day 38 hits before our trip, I will call and see if anyone canceled their reservation at the Poly that left a room w/a the discount code open. I'm crossing my fingers for you and I!!!

Good Luck!
Jill

Yes, I was able to switch, but as Jill said you have to speak with Guest Services. When the front line CM tries to look up resorts using the code that has expired, none of the resorts will show availability.

I have a question though. Has anyone had difficulty getting through to Guest Services? The few times I called, I politely asked the first CM's if I could speak with GS as they wouldn't be able to modify my reservation at all (i.e. to add DDP or Magical Express info). After spending between 45 to 55 minutes on the phone while they tried anyway, I finally got to speak with Guest Services.

Unfortunately (and surprisingly) the Guest Services Reps were not too pleasant and treated me like I was bothering them. While I appreciate the pressure they are under, I would prefer they don't take it out on me! I should not have to dread making requests or adding additional items.

I really, really wish WDW mgt. would do something about the computer software the booking folks and Guest Services are forced to use.

Anyway, sorry to go off topic. Best of luck with switching and have a great trip!:)

I emailed guest services with my request and they promptly called me. If there is anything available you could probably change, but I was told there was a deadline date to make any change to your reservation with the 40% off code, but they did let me upgrade from AKL to Poly. I think it was because of all the construction and people being moved anyway.

I did the math...we still need 2 rooms (6 of us).
I really wanted AKL or on the monorail...AT LEAST $1K more for any of these, even w/ the discount. We just don't spend any time in a room, can't justify the expense.
Thanks, again!

Would you mind telling me what email you used for Guest Services? I would much rather send an email to confirm that the changes I made are in place.

Thanks for the help!

I would also like to have guest services e-mail, so if anyone has it I would appreciate you PM it to me. I have also had a hard time getting though to them when calling in (I understand how busy they are), so think it might be easier for both of us if I could e-mail!
Thanks!
Jill

i would like the GS email address if possible as well. i need to try to upgrade to a king bed for my upcoming honeymoon if possible.

I'm glad to know I am not the only one they have been rude to, not gald that they were rude though. I have to go through GS because we have to have a handicapped room and these are sent to Special services. I call recently to add a night and CM at GS was really horrible  to me. I don't know where his magic went. I said you don't have to be ugly to me and he says "I'm being ugly because I am doing what you want me to", I said no you are being ugly with your attitude and you aren't being very magical. I did get what I wanted though.
