Changing reservation and FD

We are currently booked to arrive on Oct. 9. Of course the date is blacked out for free dining. We have 4 people on the reservation...3 from NC, and 1 from MI. Could we change the date to the 8th to include FD if only 3 of us can be there to check in on that date? Thanks!

You might be able to get by with it, but Disney does have the right to ask to see all members of the party at check in. We used to go for free dining every year, but have only been asked to show all members of our party once. I was checking us in, while my husband got the carryons off from under the DME bus and my mom went to bell services to pick up an ECV she had ordered from off site. I was lucky in that they both came in the front door just as the CM was asking to see them, so I just had to wave them over. As soon as I waved and they waved back, the CM said that was fine. This was the second year free dining was ever offered. Apparently the first year it was offered, children's credits could be used for adult meals, so alot of people came up with the brilliant idea of adding fake kids to their room ressies. They had to buy one day park tickets for those phantom kids, but because they were kids did not have to pay an additional adult fee for the room, so for about $60.00 they got a bunch of extra meal credits and were able to do alot of Signature restaurants and get alot of extra snacks all week using kids credits for adults. Now Disney says you may have to present all members of your party at check in. They seldom do though.
