I just booked 2 days at AOAin a Nemo suite followed by 6 days in a 1br villa at OKW. We weren't sure if my father-in-law was staying with us or one of his other kids. I found out he is staying with one of his other kids at a different resort and I want to remove him from my reservation and add my niece and nephew to the reservation. Looking at my confirmation email it says reservations are not transferable and reservation name changes are not permitted. Does that mean I can't change whose name it's under or I can't take him off the reservation and add someone else? It's a room only reservation.
Thanks

When they booked the reservation they would have asked for everyone's name who is staying in the room. So your name should be in the system already. Just call back and drop him, your name should still be there.

As long as your FIL is not the lead guest, you should have no trouble taking his name off and adding someone else in his place.

If he is the lead but other adults are listed in the suite is that a problem?

Now that I think about it more, I bet if he is the lead guest and used his credit card then that probably will be a problem to drop him. I was thinking he was just an extra adult in the OP's room. Hmmmmmm

I am the lead name. He was staying as my guest. I booked online and just filled out the names of who was staying in the room. I assume I can just call back and take him off and add them then. I didn't know if I had to cancel and rebook with their names because if i wait to do that they may not have the rooms we want available when i try to rebook. They may not even end up going. I just didn't know if I had to change it now or if I could wait and change it when I know who will actually be staying with us. The trip is not until Thanksgiving.
I've never booked a Disney trip myself before so I don't how things work. Been many times but my first booking. Taking our son who will be 2 by then.

I have always understood it that anyone other than the lead guest can be dropped/changed, but changing the lead guest is a problem and isn't usually done :confused3 (or at least isn't done very easily).

No need to cancel and rebook. Since he isn't the lead guest, there shouldn't be any problem taking him off and adding others in his place (as long as adding others doesn't put you over the occupancy limit of the room). You can take your FIL off and add the others now, or you can wait to add the others later when you know for sure whether or not they will go :).

Right, being the lead guest is the one that can't be dropped. Because they don't want people who are Florida residents or Annual passholders booking rooms for friends and then dropping themselves from the reservation.
