Changing name on Southwest Reservation

I purchased 5 tickets to Orlando for our upcoming May trip. One of the folks who had planned to go can't make it now but we want to invite someone else instead. Will they allow me to change just the name of the person on the ticket? Has anyone else been in this situation? The tickets were the special $89 one way internet rates they had for Florida destination. Thanks for your replies. I'd like to know b4 I plunge ahead.

I dont think they let you change the name. They will give you a southwest credit to use on another flight. Just call them. 1800-IFLYSWA, they are usually very helpful. Good luck!

You can cancel your existing reservation and get 100% credit of the money toward your new reservation at the current fare. You're really asking about changing the passenger. Changing the name, but not the passenger, due to marriage, divorce or legal name change would of course be allowed.

If you got a group fare you would be allowed to change passengers but your fare would probably be higher than what you paid.

Point well taken Lewis. thank you for correcting cause that's what I mean to ask. This person has been planning on going with us on this WDW trip for about a year and a half now, but it seems that she might not be able to be away from her boyfriend that long! Geez.. she could have at least told us that she had changed her mind since the trip is only a couple of months away now. Maybe she'll go with us but just for a shorter time period - maybe that will help.
