Changing dates when booking concierge

Hi!

I am planning our third cruise, and this will be our first time sailing concierge. I would like to sail in the summer of 2017, so I plan on booking a cruise as soon as those dates are available. The problem is, I work in a hospital, and we don't get our vacation dates approved until October for the following year (so I just now found out the days that I will be off for 2016).

I have read many posts on the forum stating that people were able to transfer their concierge deposit to a different date. I just wasn't sure if Disney's wording regarding deposits has recently changed. It states that concierge deposits are "nonrefundable and nontransferable," so it sounds like I can't transfer it to another date. Or does this mean I can't transfer it to another reservation? The website is just not clear to me. We will definitely go on the cruise, but the dates may need to be changed.

Thanks!

We are sailing concierge coming up on Halloween. Earlier this year, following our we booking, and PIF, we learned that DCL took a hard stance on the age requirement for Oceaneer's club. Our son was going to be 3 weeks shy of his 3rd birthday and we were told (by shore side concierge team) they would not make an exception for him; meaning he would have to spend his trip in the Nursery. So we had them move our vacation out so that he could participate in all of the activities. We paid a very small fee to accommodate the new sailing but yes DCL allowed it.

Nontransferable could mean that you are not allowed to transfer to another party.

From my understanding, nontransferable also means you will lose the deposit if you go from a concierge to a regular room.

You lose the deposit if you cancel. You can still transfer the deposit. We moved our cruise twice- all concierge rooms. We did not try to move to non-concierge but my understanding is even if you are non-concierge, if the original booking was concierge, the deposit is still non-refundable.

We did the same thing - I Initially booked a concierge suite (2A and 2C) then due to scheduling issues had to change the dates twice and booked two non concierge state rooms - DCL allowed us to transfer the deposit however we were told that if we canceled the non concierge state rooms we would lose the deposit the same as if we were concierge because of the initial concierge booking.

Also of note - I moved my younger sons from my Stateroom to another Stateroom other than ours and they had charged a penalty (the deposit) on that stateroom that I didnt catch at first. When I noticed it I called DCL and after a little research they reimbursed me the fee with the Caveat that if they canceled it would be reassessed b/c of them intially booking concierge.

Not true unless its a recent change. We had family book in concierge and change to non-conceirge room. if they'd cancelled altogether they'd have lost their deposit. They did not lose it transferring to a non-concierge room.

I'm thinking that poster was referring to the fact that, if you transfer your Concierge reservation to a non-Concierge reservation, the deposit remains non-refundable (because the original booking was Concierge). Not that you lose your deposit by changing categories.

Non-transferable means can't transfer to another person. We've moved dates several times without any penalty or charge.
