Friday night I stopped into the Hogs Head before heading to Rising Star. Noticed all the tables are now reserved for Three Broomsticks use, even though the restaurant was about the only place not crowded at that point.

Now word from the Sentinel that liquor sales have been suspended temporarily, to better concentrate on selling Butterbeer.

Also saw Friday night that they have sold out of the original handled Butterbeer mugs--now using what looks like a plastic pint glass with the same logo. Curiously these are clear plastic, not opaque--normally a big no-no. (Until now, only alcoholic drinks went into clear cups, rule at Uni and WDW). I think that just shows how quickly they had to come up with a replacement after selling out the original mugs in less than a month.

Worth noting that beer and wine are still being sold in the tavern. Makes sense, it takes longer to pour a mixed drink than a beer. I can't imagine they did a large volume of mixed drinks there anyway. I'm sure sales will resume when the crowds die down after the summer.

I hope someone posts a picture of the new butterbeer glasses.

O_o...

Ok, this has me on the verge of being severely bummed out.

Will they be getting the original cups back in stock and this is just a temporary measure? Or were the original cups just for the opening?

Not the best pic of the new cups, but I took this last Thursday and you can see it up on the counter there.

According to the bartender, they will probably have these new pint glasses for a while now, if not permanently. He didnt say whether it was because they sold out of the mugs or it was just a design change.

From having stood in that line, my guess is the house elf upstairs broke all the old ones. :thumbsup2

anyone know if they pour guinness correctly?

soooooo they cheapen the cups. did they at least drop the price?
(dang wanted a 'set' for our bar)

We were there yesterday and the were definitely selling beer and wine. You were told to go outside on the patio to drink, as the tables inside are for those with food. Definitely tumblers and no handled mugs. Also definitely butterbeer and pumpkin juice are being sold in clear plain cups, but the are smaller than the alcohol beer cups.
