Changes to ILL & Genie+ starting 2/25

I would be asking for a refund. Surely they are duty bound to give you back your cash since the product you bought no longer exists :confused3
The person bought those and used them so they did get the product they purchased. ILL$ are only available to be purchased the day you'll be using them, not in advance.

Can someone tell me how I go about adding Genie+ to my tickets/package if our trip is next week. I'd like to see if there will be a price difference and if not purchase it ahead of time. Thanks.

Any suggestion for planning a trip starting 8/10. Better to plan for these rides returning to ILL after 8/7. We will have G+ and I was figuring on being really organized and knowing exactly what selections I would making every morning.

Crowds drop off around that time because it's hot and kids go back to school (in Florida but also in many other states). We are planning a trip around that time as well and we hope to skip G+ altogether for shorter lines. I guess time will tell whether that plan will actually work.

More than likely if you purchase G+ for length of stay to any ticket that has already been purchased, the price will go up. If it were me I'd buy it each day to avoid the price increase.

Also, having been there 3 weeks ago we used it 3/8 days and honestly that was all we needed it for. Purchasing length of stay (for our family) would have been a waste of $. In the end I came out ahead as I cancelled PH (approx $180) and only purchased 3 days of G+ for approx $90. Bonus!

That's $110 at Universal right now (and still doesn't include Hagrid's actually - so not every attraction), why would Disney charge only $50 for more parks and more attractions?

I know it's seen as a crime on the boards here (and if I had a dime for every time I've read "nickel and dime" this past few months I could literally just retire right now) but I think on the outside there's much more "Wow, only $15? This cost me $180 for the day at Six Flags and that's just one park" or "I paid $250 on a peak day at Cedar Point and still had lines as long as the standby since they sell so many - Disney's scheduling system sure keeps the lines down adding value to what I paid" and my favorite "they were already charging for maxpass at DLR, makes sense they would also charge in Florida".
I think this is an important point. I don't like that Disney is going down the road of upcharges to skip lines, it feels counter to what I liked about Disney in the first place and Walt's vision of a pleasant vacation destination for the common people.

But Universal and Six Flags have been doing this for years, for much more $. In August 2019 we did a Universal trip and 1 day of WDW. I remember thinking, Express passes are so expensive ($80-$120+ pp), this is for rich people to bypass the common folk, and they have 2 tiers, 1 of which allows unlimited rerides for even more $. In theory WDW has free FP+, but we couldn't get anything we wanted b/c everything had been booked up 60+ days in advance by those staying at Disney hotels.

Six Flags is even worse. Last summer, bought a discounted season pass for ~$60, but when my daughter went, she got to go on 3 rides all day due to long lines. Flash Passes (3 tiers) are $70-$200/pp. I was thinking that the base ticket is priced cheap to suck you in the door.

I can't stand pay-for-play-type-upcharges (after already paying a price of entry) when it comes to anything!

But yeah... Disney launching this was extra disappointing because it just felt counter to the welcoming culture of their theme parks.

On that front, I have to give Universal at least a little credit for including free Express Passes if people stay on property. I know two rides aren't included, but still... At least it has more of a "partnership" perception to it vs. the vibe of someone constantly digging in my pocket for more and more, (and more!) as I try to capture some semblence of a sensible vacation. And the hotel rates aren't anywhere near Disney rates so that helps too. And they've had daily housekeeping for a while now too.

so you could get LL for slinky all the way upto 12-40. It’s normally gone by 7-01
To clarify I believe they said they randomly checked at 12:40 and both were gone already. I think you have to check thrill data for the exact times they ran out.

The boards will explode if/when they start including Genie with only Deluxe resorts like Universal does - but I could see it as a future perk. Remember when club level could just buy more fast passes - what if they can buy in the future a premium genie + that comes with scheduled times? Same kind of option to spend more only if you're already spending more. 🤔
