Changes to Celebration buttons.

I know it's just a free pin but this kind of bums me out. We got engaged in disney and got "Just Engaged" pins... and while we got those, the very nice CM also gave us "Happily Ever After" pins, for when we returned for our honeymoon (this was long before we knew we would actually be returning)... I was kind of hoping for "Just Married" pins as that seems more appropriate for us in this situation. Oh well!

I think that it doesn't make sense to get rid of the anniversary pin. I feel as though that's the most popular one!
I also just ordered a Happily Ever After Pin off eBay because I want the old design. Was looking forward to that for the Honeymoon in December.

I was really looking forward to a Anniversary pin. I know it is just a pin and no big deal but we planned to celebrate our 25th there, I kind of wanted something that said anniversary, instead of generic. (and I know that is stupid, I just wanted one )

The "just married" buttons have been in the process of being phased out for years. We didn't get them in 2012 after our DFTW, they were even back then using the "happily ever after" buttons. Every once in a while, we would get a report in our Facebook group that a particular location had Just Married buttons but it's been increasingly rare. I have 0 qualms about them being more inclusive but they could have simply made the just married buttons without specific characters on it to make it more inclusive.

I'll probably get slammed for this, but I wish they have left one of the buttons with a Mickey/Minnie or a prince/princess for those couples that are man/woman.

I hate that everything has be all inclusive.

Just a note... As a woman proposing to my (female) partner at WDW I had to seek out an Etsy seller and commission a gender neutral "just engaged." button. (I wish I had known this change was coming!) If you feel such a strong need to have your opposite gender attraction validated, you can always order one as well-- it was not expensive. So happy to feel included by the "official" button now.

I'm going to miss the "Anniversary" buttons...
We got ours on our last trip, and the CM at our Resort wrote that we were celebrating "3 Ears", I just thought that was a fun touch. One of our bus drivers even made a special announcement for us one morning. When the DGF and I got engaged at Disneyland on New Years Day, I wanted to get a couple of the "Just Engaged" buttons I had seen at WDW, but found out Disneyland only stocked the Cinderella "Happily Ever After" buttons. Fortunately, we have a friend who is a WDW CM, and she is sending one to us. I was hoping to get the "Just Married" buttons when we take our next trip in 2017, but now those are going to be gone as well....

I dunno...this aspect of reducing 4 buttons (although only three are shown) down to one just feels kind of cheap.

I like the idea of a "Happily Ever After" button. My wife and I went for our 5th anniversary this past year. As part of our anniversary year, I adopted my wife's daughter and our trip was to celebrate both events. My poor daughter got overshadowed 9 times out of ten because of our Anniversary buttons. By the end of the trip they lost their novelty. "Happily ever after" for all three of us would have worked for us much better.

At the very least I hope the new buttons hold the ink better. :D

Amen to that. I probably got 4 Birthday buttons on my last trip. Only the one that the CM taped over still has ink on it. There was another that had much more care and attention to detail that is completely blank now.

The inclusivity of the Happily Ever After button is excellent, and the theming fits well with Disney.

I would re-read that last line over and over again, and ponder.

Too bad, Disney is sliding further into generic territory. IMO

And yet, they have no obligation to provide any buttons. This is just a little bit of something they do to make the experience a little bit more special. I suppose if someone wanted a very special button, they could make one, or order one custom made.

It's a question of money as well...costs a lot less to make just one design vs 2 or 3, that say pretty much the same thing. It used to be that you didn't see that many buttons in the parks. Now? Every other person has one on!! Everyone is hoping for something special...and that just doesn't happen nearly as much as it used to!!
I got lucky in DL....I found a button/pin that is a graduation theme. Grabbed two of those since we are taking dd to DL when she graduates from college in May. Nothing like that in WDW. I have to wonder if they're phasing them out in DL as well.

The Happily Ever After ones could have had Tinkerbell and the Fairy Godmother on them....and nothing more.
