Hi there, very nervous newbie who put in my first offer on a resale today. Been reading as much as possible, all of these posts have been such a tremendous help.
My offer is for a 100 point contract, which will get us a 1 bedroom for a week at AKV during our expected travel dates. My question is this: it is currently 79 points for a studio for one week, does Disney change their points charts for DVC each year? Will I eventually not be able to stay for one week with a 100 point contract?
Sorry if this was asked before, I did look, but haven't found an answer in a previous post.
TIA!! :confused3

DVC can reallocate points. This can be between room sizes, seasons or views. Any increase must also have a decrease. The total number of points at the resort is fixed and can't be increased unless they add more inventory to the resort.

There were two big reallocations in recent years in which they raised the points for SUN - THUR nights and lowered FRI & SAT nights. This impacted a number of members that purchased the exact amount of points required for a SUN to THUR stay. Those members no longer had enough points to cover those 5 nights.

Thanks for your response Michael! That puts my mind at ease. I am a little concerned about purchasing a lower point contract but currently don't have the funds for a larger one. Was worried in 10 years I may only be staying 1 night!

Disney can change the required points and you could come up short or you could be able to stay longer.

The numbers you mention in your post are not accurate so I want to be sure you are reading the AKV point chart correctly.

The least expensive 1 bedroom at AKV is 139 points (Value 1BR during Adventure season). You would have to bank or borrow points from the prior or next UY to book a 1BR with a 100-point contract.

My question is this: it is currently 79 points for a studio for one week, does Disney change their points charts for DVC each year?
There are no AKV studios of any type in any season that go for 79 points. Some studios are close to that number of points (ex: 69 pts for a Value studio in Adventure and Choice seasons, 76 pts for a Value studio in Dream season). I've seen posts in the past where people were interpreting the charts incorrectly so I just want to make sure you are looking at the right numbers for the room type and dates of stay you are considering.

Also, if you are focusing on Value studios exclusively, there are at most 18 of them (fewer if some are used to rent out as a Value 2BR) so you should plan on booking 11 months out to get one.
