Thanks for the info Kitty! It's my C 6 that's the current problem although my entire upper spine is a real mess according to the neck specialist, Spine Center people, and my therapists. I could have either a fusion or disk replacement done to ease the hand problem and neck pain or do nothing. Doing nothing means continued compensation of the other disks for this one with issues and potential long-term damage or perhaps gradual minor improvement. I am so torn! My spine doctor actually advised reading on the internet!
