We head to DL this week. The orginal plan was to leave Wed AM early (4:00) and arrive in Anaheim by 2 in the afternoon. I got to thinking last night when I was suffering a bout of "too much to do and not enough time before we leave for Disney" insomnia that maybe it would be better to leave Tuesday late afternoon evening and arrive very late tuesday night/Wed AM. DH said no.:confused3

SO........

At church this AM I took a couple good friends who used to travel to LA most weekend to see boyfriends to put a bug in his ear about how it would be easier to leave Tuesday to avoid the major traffic.

As we were leaving church this AM DH looked at me and said "Lori and Lois were talking to me after service about traffic during the day around LA/Anaheim. Why don't you book a room thru Priceline for Tuesday night. and we will leave when i get off work":rotfl:

So I got a room at Red Lion Inn Don't know anything about it but I figure it is for one night to sleep only and then transfer to our regular hotel. Anyone with knowledge about this hotel I would appreciate a review.

Do you know what this means???? I get a full day at Disney on Wed instead of a half day :cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

I don't know anything about that hotel but I will say that you had an excellent idea!! That is what we always do. We're leaving on a Wed afternoon and will arrive in Anaheim around 8 pm. Not sure which direction you are coming from but we usually eat dinner around the Magic Mtn area on I-5 and that helps us avoid rush hour traffic in LA.

Good thinking on your part and now you can spend a full day instead of a half day! :flower3:

We are coming from Sacramento. I have checked it is a good neighbor hotel. about 2 blocks from the parks. We are transferring to the Anaheim Sheraton on Wed.

You are 2 hours north of me!

We have also done that too.....as in check into a cheaper not so close hotel for that 1st night and then move to another hotel for the rest of our stay.

It makes it nice too because then you can get down there and get a good nights sleep and be ready to hit the parks bright and early.

Have fun on your trip!

Oh you're sooooo lucky! Sounds like we had the same itinerary. We're leaving Sac between 2:30 and 3:00 am and hope to be in Anaheim around 9:30. I asked DH about going the night before but a business trip got in the way so it looks like I'll be driving the entire way down...woohoo ;) Fortunately I won't feel bad leaving the parks too early on Wed. from exhaustion since they close early. Have a great trip!

We're staying at Red Lion for our entire trip in a couple days. I've never stayed there before so can't give you my review but we got a good rate so booked it. But here's what I know:

The hotel was bought out by red lion and completely renovated about 6 months ago so everything should be new and clean. All of the rooms have microwaves, coffee pots and fridges. There's free wi-fi internet and flat screen tv's in the rooms. There's a heated pool but no spa. All of the reviews I've read have been pretty good and everyone seems to agree the beds are comfy. The stop for the Disneyland shuttle thing (sorry can't remember what it's called) is right in front of the hotel, but you do have to pay to ride it. They also have a breakfast buffet that is around $10.

Just to let you know since you're driving, I read they charge $12 or $14 (can't remember which) per night parking fee.

Have a great trip!!!
