Chances for a hopefully slow January

We are thinking about trying for mid to late January. I hear it's slow, but what are my chance at getting the first on our list for DVC. Our first choice is Beach Club 2 bedroom, followed by Wilderness Lodge, Followed by Boardwalk. I know we're kind of last minute here but since we may be able to go at this time and have never been in Jan before I thought all you great DVC people would give the best info. And is it still true that Jan IS a slow time?

The weeks bordering Martin Luther King Day will be busy due to the holiday. Not to mention the first week of January due to New Year's.

Other than that, the parks may be slower attendance but I have found that no longer holds true for DVC occupancy. Folks realize the lower point time frames are more desirable for bookings with points.

I would just encourage you to make any ressie you can as soon as possible. Otherwise, be prepared to be flexible in resort choice and room size as well. Good luck!

I think things have changed and it's harder to find any 'down' time for DVC. 2 weeks ago I tried to get ressies at BCV for my daughter and the only studio available was SSR. This was for Jan. 6-11th, so it isn't normally a busy time. My first choice was BCV because that's where my daughter loves, so we have waitlisted for that and hopefully it will come through. I was really surprised that for that time period I was so restricted in what was available.

Yes it does and there seems to be other things going on at around the same time. I was there this January and arrived on the last day of the marathon. I thought, "Okay, it will wind down after that," but it didn't. There were groups from out of the US there touring and a cheerleading competition was about to start. It was still crowded just after the marathon.

the last weekend of jan. there will be a gymnastic meet, my neighbor is going and i booked her room back in may and i had to go on the waitlist for a few days at the AKL, that may because of the limited of rooms.

I was there this year starting on the 7th, the day they ran the marathon, I thought it was still pretty busy
