Does anyone know of a credit card that offers insurance when you rent a car??
I am renting a car and don't want to pay the hugh insurance fees and know that sometimes credit cards cover any accidents/damge that happens to a car you rent and paid for with the card

Thanks for any help!

Most of the Gold and Platinum grade cards offer this insurance. I have it with the Capital One No Hassles reward card and, I think, on my BP Visa.

Have you checked with your own insurance company? I know our auto insurance covers us. Also, if you purchased trip insurance you can check with that company sometimes you are covered there as well.

I know my current insurance does not cover rental cars. I live in Michigan and only have PL/PD.

I currently have the Disney Vacation insurance and I'm pretty sure that it is not included.

Does anyone know if the trip insurance through Disney provides rental car insurance??

Might be best to call Disney directly to ensure the most accurate info.

Check the terms both on the credit card and insurance.

If your rental goes over a certain number of days you're not covered. I don't recall what it is, it may be 30 days.

I only know this because I had to rent a car for 42 days. Good thing I checked, I wasn't covered.

I have State Farm and for about $32.00 for each six months you are covered. This is for rentals exceeding 30 days. It's bought mostly by business people who are renting a lot.

Also if you are using credit card coverage check to see if they are offering primary coverage. If not, You have to file with your auto insurance company then what they don't pay you submit to the credit card co.

Also make sure loss of service is included. If the rental co can prove all their cars are rented out and they could have rented the damaged car during the repair period they can charge you rental for that period.

USAA has a great insurance plan on my Master Card.

You want a credit card that is PRIMARY. This is vital. A lot of the VISA/MasterCard deals are secondary to your insurance. In other words if there is an accident you have to file with YOUR insurance and what they dont' pay the credit card does, but then your claim history is impacted!

As for Loss of Use, they have to PROVE it, to charge it. I had a rental car company try that stunt once. WE asked for PROOF. They crawled back in thier hole and shut up LOL!

Diner's Club has primary coverage.

Diner's Club has primary coverage.

And it's NOT near as good as it used to be. I have moved my personal rentals to my USAA card after reading about the Diners Club service issues on flyer talk. Makes me sad I used to LOVE my Diners.
