Our first trip to WDW during the holiday season. We flew in the Wed morning before Thanksgiving and stayed until Sunday. Despite my fears of traveling over the holiday, everything went smoothly.

After a short, direct flight, we were happy to see this sign.

Stayed at CBR in a pirate room! We stayed here last year and DS could not stop talking about going back. The rooms looked refurbished too. And our room was ready by 11am (score!).

The room didn't feel super clean and the beds were uncomfortable but my son's joy over this room made it worthwhile. The resort seemed pretty quiet and we never had any bus issues even staying in the last buildings. We did choose to drive to the parks some.

Last year, we made a critical error in rushing to the parks on travel day. This time, we rested for a few hours before heading to our first park.

First stop was Hollywood Studios

Our plans for DHS included Disney Jr., Star Wars Launch Bay, RNRC, TOT, Star Tours and Jingle Jam, Jingle Bam dessert party. Big plans after waking up at 5am to catch our flight. We made it to the park around 3pm and headed straight to Disney Jr. Live.

I can see why your son would like the Pirate room. We have not stayed there but even as an adult, I would be excited to stay in such a room. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for stopping by! The theming in these pirate rooms is really well done. We will likely try a different resort next time after two years at CBR, but I would recommend it to others.

Day 1 Recap

Pretty smooth travel day. Left hotel at 5am and headed to airport. Made it through security quickly and plane arrived on time to MCO. Our room was ready by 11am, so we had time to rest before hitting up DHS.

Highlights of this day:
  • Walking into DHS as Captain Plasma was marching down the streets with her Stormtroopers. Awesome to hear the music as we were walking in.
  • Seeing my son dance around and enjoy the Disney Jr. show and then interacting with the characters (much better than last year).
  • Going to Launch Bay for the first time. Loved the roaming stormtroopers and meeting "not Darth Vader". (aka Kylo Ren). No fear by DS. Forgot to bring something to trade with Jawas (they were trading that day!).
  • Riding rock n roller coaster and wondering mid ride why and the heck I was on there (not for me!). Was too shook up and tired to do TOT afterwards but hubby enjoyed.
  • Oh the crowds. Walking down the main streets was pretty brutal at times
  • Adult lemonade (with vodka shot) for the win!
  • Riding Star Tours with DS for the first time. He cried last time and we skipped it. This time, I told him it was a space shuttle. He was a little fearful at first but ultimately said he liked it. Then we made light sabers. Less fun than I thought it would be but my double light saber is pretty cool.
  • Almost made it to muppets 3D before DS chickened out. He has a thing about theaters.
  • Waiting in line forever at Pizza Rizzos. That place sucks. Pizza is horrible but again adult lemonade for the win!
  • Jingle Bam dessert party - check in was a bit weird and we waited in line longer than I was expecting but it was OK. I am ashamed to say that after looking around for a free table for awhile, I eventually sat at a handicapped table. Yes I'm ashamed but I was fully prepared to give up my table if someone in fact needed it. Without having this table and sitting down, this would have been a miserable experience. My son was sleepy and my feet were throbbing. Food was ok. Too much mint. Drinks were good. Probably won't do this again unless the menu gets changed. Fireworks and show were OK, not great. We got to meet Santa Goofy, so that was cool!
  • Seeing all the Christmas decorations in the parks and the fake snow as we were exiting made me a bit teary.
  • Easy bus ride back to CBR where we crashed. No trouble falling asleep!

Oh and no major bathroom issues! Last year we had major issues with DS using the bathroom and having issues with the flushing noise and automatic flush. Like screaming and crying. Not wanting to go issues. At one point on this day, I asked him if he felt better after going to the bathroom and he starts singing "I feel better, so much better now.." (Doc McStuffins reference).

Joining in too! Love your idea of taking a nap or rest before heading to the parks! It's always so tempting to head to the parks as soon as our bags hit the floor in the hotel room lol

Your son is super adorable!! Love the pic of the Stormtrooper and your son :)

P.S. I just saw your update and loved the idea of the adult lemonade <3

Our first trip my daughter had the same issue with the bathrooms. we ended up using the bathrooms at the baby care area. they all have a regular flush not automatic flush and I think dhs has the kid size toilets. epcot is the only on that does not have a regular flush toilet. a cast member also gave us "magic" Mickey stickers. you put them over the sensor. they are the perfect size. we even used them at home when we would run in to bathroom with am automatic flush.

Your son is just precious. You can see how happy he is!

Thank you! This is his fourth visit to WDW and he was super excited. He really loves it and this year he rode a lot more (including Space Mountain!).

Thanks. Never knew about the regular toilets in DHS. I always forget about bringing something to cover the sensors. My son started a new school this year and all they have are auto flush toilets except for in the nurses office!

Thanks for stopping by! Yes we found out last year that we were grumpy and miserable rushing straight to the park. However it was hard to get my kiddo to nap. He was so excited and ready to go!

The stormtooper interactions in Launch bay were great.

Immediately realized this was a bad idea. And look at the poor kid next to me.

Same with my daughters school. the nurse worked with her when she was in 1st grade on getting used to them. she was having accidents almost everyday. she is in 4th now. she still doesn't like them but but she will use them.
