Celebrating my Un-Birthday Disney Style-April 2010-New 5/3 - The TR has started!

In two weeks from today it will be Friday, April 23. Today will be our first morning waking up in Florida! We’ll be spending the day at Jeff & Karen’s house. Maybe we’ll go to the beach? Maybe we’ll swim in their pool? I’m sure we’ll eat a good meal – Jeff is a chef. The kids will have school until early afternoon & I'm not sure if both Jeff & Karen have the day off or not? :confused3

Alex has really wanted to see Jeff’s ex (the boys’ ex-aunt) and her mother (J & K’s other grandmother). He’s been really upset that he hasn’t seen them since our 2007 trip. Kids don't always get it when there's a split... Maybe we’ll get to see them today?? If so, I’m sure it’ll be brief – maybe picking up or dropping off K.

I love the In Two Weeks posts!!

I can't wait until I can start checking the weather forecast on Accuweather! That really makes the trip feel close. :yay: :yay:

My youngest still asks about my brother's ex. It really is tough for them to understand a split. It's a hard thing for everyone involved...I'm not sure people understand how many people are affected. I hope you get to see them for Alex's sake. :)

Your In Two Weeks posts are great!! Love them!:goodvibes

I agree with Missy...being able to check Accuweather makes the trip feel so close!!!;) Although, it seems like every day I check it....the weather changes. and now I've started comparing it with it Weather.com and they are completely different. Oh well....as long as I have a mostly sunny week...I'll be happy!!!:thumbsup2

Oh and YAY! for being under 2 weeks now!!!:dance3:

I didn't know Jeff was a chef -- this is bound to be a good day between his cooking and the beach! :goodvibes

Yes - He actually manages the food services division at the hospital where he works... so he does a lot of cooking for special diets, etc. He has to juggle the food for all the patients in the hospital plus the cafeteria where staff & guests eat. I guess the doctors have a separate dining room... :confused3

Alex gets very sad about not seeing them. He only brings it up once in a while... I don't think Jeff will have any problem with us seeing them, I'm not sure what Karen will think about it... she'll probably be fine with it, but once in a while the ex tries to invite herself to be part of things and Karen hates that. I think in this situation she'll be OK.

You guys reminded me... I forgot to post the forecast with my update. I think I'll post the whole forecast, not just for the one day, since it changes so much. We'll see how close the forecast is in two weeks from what it says today. :rolleyes1 But I still love checking it, even if it changes.

Accuweather forecast for the first two days:
Thur 4/22: Now down to 81 with spotty morning showers (yesterday it said 84 & partly sunny)... luckily we don't arrive until mid-day!
Friday 4/23: 83 & mostly cloudy

I love your "in two weeks" i may just have to steal that idea if that's okay with you!

Also, it is awesome that you get to work from home! I have a phone interview Tuesday to work temporarily for 1800Flowers for the Mother's Day rush. I heard you can make between 1200-1500 in about 5 weeks. I hope it comes through because that would be all the spending money we need for Vegas which means I can start saving for WDW now. :) I would be working at home and I would probably work at least 40 hours a week to rack up as much $$ as I can. Since I am a "nanny" (I prefer to call in babysitter) during the day M-F I get a break while the kids are in nursery/preschool to go run my errands and do cleaning. Then I still get some "me" time when they are resting in the afternoon, so I'm hoping it won't be too much!

Happy, Happy Two Weeks!!! :dance3: :cheer2: :cool1:

Love that weather forcast!! :sunny:

Kathy

I'd love to hear your "in two weeks" posts when the time comes!

The 1800Flowers gig sounds great! That's a lot of money - but you'll be a crazy busy lady too! But it sounds like it would be worth it since it's short term.

Two weeks and the weather is looking good. :thumbsup2

Thanks Carissa!! :thumbsup2

Two weeks from today, it will be Saturday, April 24. The accuweather forecast calls for:

Thursday, 4/22: Back to 84 & partly sunny
Friday, 4/23: 83 & partly sunny
Saturday, 4/24: 83 & partly sunny

Looks good to me! :thumbsup2

Today is another day at Jeff & Karen’s. We’ll be doing more of the same - swimming at their pool, relaxing & enjoying good food & company! Plus I think we might visit an aquarium near their house. We should get to see the kids most of the day today since they won't have school.

Your weather looks great so far, Amy!!!:thumbsup2

An aquarium sounds like fun!!:goodvibes Your trip is getting so close!!!:woohoo:

More gorgeous weather for your trip! :thumbsup2

::yes::

Oh you're going to have fantastic weather for your trip :goodvibes

:thumbsup2

Looks like awesome weather Amy!! :goodvibes

You are getting so close! :cool1:

Hi Shelly!! Glad to see you around!! :goodvibes

Your weather looks great so far, Amy!!!:thumbsup2

So far so good as far as the weather goes.

The only aquarium we have been to is the New England Aquarium in Boston. It'll be fun to see what's different in Florida. There's a boat ride that we'll probably do too. I hope we don't run into any gators!

Two weeks from today it will be Sunday, April 25.

Today we’ll get up and drive across the state to the Vero Beach area, where DMIL will have spent the past week. It will probably take 3 hours to get there. (The kids are going to love it. :rolleyes1) Hopefully we’ll leave first thing in the morning and arrive around 12ish. We’ll visit DGG (GG = great grandmother) at her assisted living facility apartment. DMIL is looking into whether the kids are allowed to swim in the pool there. Last time we visited her (when she still lived in her own house) we swam in the pool at her community center and went to lunch. Zach & Alex would climb the walls and get into all of her stuff if we just sat around her apartment so we have to figure out something to do. We'll probably take her out for lunch again and maybe swim if it's allowed. :confused3

Then we’ll head out to Orlando with DMIL with us. Check-in at the Sheraton Vistana Resort starts at 4, but they say they try to have rooms ready by 2pm. We’ll probably only visit DGG for a couple hours and head to Orlando around 3 or 4ish. It takes about 90 minutes to get to Orlando from Vero Beach so that would get us there around 4:30-5:30.

Once we check-in, Tim will probably run out to the grocery store to pick up some essentials. I’ll unpack and get us settled in. DMIL will probably stay with me to help keep the kids occupied while I unpack. We’ll eat dinner somewhere along the way… maybe Tim will pick up something while he’s out or, depending how late we leave Vero Beach, we’ll eat on the road?? Maybe we’ll check out the pool before bed if we get there early enough? We’ll plan to get to bed at a reasonable hour because we’re planning to make rope drop the next morning… actually earlier because we have to deal with our GAD tickets, upgrades & GACs!

Accuweather:
Thursday, 4/22: 84 & partly sunny
Friday, 4/23: 83 & rainy (over 1 inch of rain)
Saturday, 4/24: 80 & mostly cloudy
Sunday, 4/25: 80 & partly sunny

Tune in tomorrow to hear our plans for our first Disney park!!

Looks good:thumbsup2 As far as the weather goes I always check ahead of time too ( I have the site bookmarked) but when it looks like rain I always say "hey they cannot really tell that far ahead what it will be doing" & then I just hope for sun sun sun!! Either way you will have a great time & should have way more sunshine than rain.:thumbsup2
