Look into any other apps - DONE
Make ADR cards enter ADRs into phone
Inform school about missed days Alexs teacher done
Match outfits/bags?
Luckily I have already accomplished several things from this week's list because between Easter, work & my friends I'm not going to have too much time to focus on the trip.
I was looking back at my 2007 PTR & I discovered some WDW autism tips that I posted in August 2007:
Based on last year's trip and what I am planning for this year, here are my pointers:
Get the GAC!!
Make your ADRs as soon as you can.
Get a stroller - even if your child is a little bit bigger - we have found it helpful for DS6 to have his own space.
Have your own car available if you think it would help - especially if you are off-site.
Stay in as large of a hotel/condo as you can.
Have kitchen facilities available if you can.
Go to character meals instead of standing in lines to meet the characters. Tell your server about your child - especially if you think he could be afraid.
Bring post-it notes to cover the sensor of the automatic toilets (remember to take it off when you are done) or use companion restrooms - we'll try that this year.
I make up ID cards on the computer on business cards and laminate them. I tie them to the belt loops of each child or attach them with a large safety pin.
Bring earplugs and/or sound cancelling headphones!
Bring little things to keep busy hands occupied.
Take mid-day breaks and try not to be out every night.
Be clear about the rules up front - for DS6 we had a laminated card that had all of his rules on it - no running off, hold hands when walking, keep bodies safe, etc. We used pictures for each rule.
Still all very accurate!
I think it's funny that I was talking about DS6 - who at the time was Alex. DS6 is Zach this year - and the sensory tips are much more important with him now.
Have a Happy Easter everyone!!
